A key role in improving the availability and reliability of the services provided by the ITD (Information, Technology and Digital) division to council staff and partners and in turn, the residents and businesses of South Gloucestershire.
Experience & knowledge of:
Network & Communication Services, e.g.
o IP Network/WiFi and firewalls
o Telephony (Cisco, Skype/Teams).
o DNS, DHCP
Virtualisation & Storage e.g.
o Virtual Farm Infrastructure Operations (specifically VMWare / Hyper-V)
o Data Storage solutions Operations (preferably Nimble)
o Windows server 2019 and 2016 although experience of upgrading 2012 is required
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- You will have substantial managerial experience organising and co-ordinating business support services.
- You will hold a relevant professional qualification or equivalent specialist qualification or will have equivalent relevant experience
- You will have excellent leadership skills and use these to inspire, motivate and develop your team to attain high levels of performance.
- You will have experience of managing change effectively and use this to manage major projects.
- You will demonstrate detailed knowledge and understanding of the wider impact of the role. This may include extensive and comprehensive knowledge of the Council’s constitution, processes and procedures with an understanding of political sensitivities.
- You will communicate, negotiate with and influence colleagues and partners.
- You will have a proven ability to work flexibly and manage a complex workload. You will also have excellent time management skills to prioritise and set appropriate deadlines.
- You will use your initiative to maintain relevant, current knowledge and skills throughout the service area. This can be used to inform policy development.
- You will be able to plan and manage service and departmental budgets
- You will be able to think and act strategically, solve problems and make decisions.
- You will have experience of producing long term plans which satisfy the Council’s objectives.
Able to demonstrate the Council’s values and behaviours.
