A temporary position has arisen for a fixed 3 month term for a driver/installer working for the Joint Equipment Service.
The service operates out of two distribution sites and this position will operate from the site on Penarth Road. The service delivers and installs a wide range of specialist equipment to disabled residents throughout Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
The position will be responsible for the collection, delivery and installation (where required) of equipment designed to assist people with disabilities in their own homes. Bulkier items (e.g. profiling beds, hoists etc) would require the post holder to work as a member of a two person team. All requests for delivery/installation are instigated by a clinical team member after an assessment of the clients needs, an order for delivery is then processed by the JES admin team and collected, delivered, installed by an in-house team of which this post would form a part.

Experience and Requirements:
Essential:
Multi-drop deliveries.
Understanding of safe working practices
Diplomacy/tact when dealing with clients
Flexible with the ability to work on own initiative to agreed standards
Ability to undertake a wide range of physical activities
Commitment to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy
Full valid driving licence

Desirable:
Understanding/experience of working with people with disabilities.
Driving/operating vans up to 3.5 tonnes.
