To manage Employee Relations (ER) cases appropriately and consistently, as well as providing effective advice to Line Managers to support them with the application of the policies

Description
Interprets the Council’s HR Policy & Procedures, ensure that they are well communicated and provide advice to stakeholders appropriate to the situation
Develops HR colleagues and Line Managers
Applies relevant and up to date UK employment law knowledge to Council activities
Ensures all required legal measures are taken across the people agenda
Facilitates potential conflict situations (in a legally compliant way)
Ability to run consultation meetings, including preparation of consultation business cases, and support Line Managers / leaders to do the same where appropriate
Designs and implements interventions to enhance open and constructive dialogue between employees and Line Managers
Provide specialist advice to those leading sensitive conflicts
Drafts HR Policies & Procedures and ensures they are clearly communicated and practiced consistently throughout the Council
Feeds back where there are areas for improvement on HR Policies and Procedures
Ability to analyse data and integrate external sources (e.g. ACAS / CIPD websites) to establish key insights
Ability to review and challenge content provided by other team members and local HR teams

Experience:
A proven track record of providing clear, balanced advice and guidance on HR issues
A proven track record of applying employment law knowledge and HR policy / procedure
Experience of working successfully with senior managers on complex HR issues
Desirable but not essential
Experience of working in a HR Functiont in a customer focused role, proactively facilitating and leading change
Qualifications:
Desirable but not essential
A relevant degree or equivalent qualification OR
Studying towards, or willing to study towards a relevant degree or equivalent qualification
A graduate membership of an appropriate professional body e.g. CIPD
