Main responsibilities

Organise, plan and supervise a programme of activities for children of all ages (0 – 16).

Provide parents and children with appropriate practical and emotional support.

Formulate, implement, review and evaluate individual support plans; ensuring support is delivered in accordance with NCHA’s principles and values.

Develop and promote internal and external tenant support networks.

Motivate and develop team members to be involved with the children’s service you will provide.
Evaluate and monitor volunteer performance.

Identify training and development needs related to the children’s service for colleagues and ensure they follow NCHA’s procedures.

Maintain accurate children’s records and appropriate administrative systems.

Participate in the development and implementation of quality systems for the children’s service and in budget decisions.  

Maintain a healthy and safe physical environment for tenants, their children and colleagues.

Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policy and procedures; carrying out and reviewing risk assessments for children and play activities.

Attend safeguarding/child in need meetings where applicable.


About the person (criteria used to shortlist applications)

Knowledge      

Qualified to, or working towards Level III NVQ in Childcare/ Play or an NNEB or a relevant qualification at an equivalent level.

Current knowledge of child protection legislation, Social Services procedures and good practice guidance in relation to children.

Demonstrable knowledge of issues relevant to tenant group.

Skills and experience

            Demonstrable experience of working in a childcare or play work environment, including supervisory experience.

Demonstrable ability to operate effectively at supervisory level.

Numerate and literate with basic IT skills.

Personal qualities,

 values and behaviours

            Understanding of the needs of people from diverse social/cultural/racial backgrounds.

Willingness to promote and adhere to the CLEAR values of NCHA.
