Salary: £190.11 per day

The post holder will provide a professional, practical and comprehensive Health and Safety advisory and support service for the Council to achieve a continued improvement in health and safety performance and service delivery. The post holder will seek to improve performance through the implementation of health and safety management systems, including ISO 45001, and other current standards and legislation. The post holder will seek to mitigate any risks and ensure that there is a safe working environment. Essential qualifications/knowledgeA Health and Safety management qualifications at degree level or equivalent• Graduate Member of ISOH• Excellent knowledge business continuity framework• Knowledge of e-capabilities for H&S services and experience incommissioning specific piece of work and evaluating the effectiveness of theH &S activities• Knowledge of safety improvement methodology• Demonstrable working knowledge of Health and Safety frameworks• A comprehensive knowledge of current health and safety legislation,management and standards• Knowledge of the HSE’s Management Standards and the ability to carry outStress Risk Assessments• Understanding of the structure, issues ,pressures, influences and legislationaffecting local government• A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of health,safety and risk management.

Desirable qualifications/ knowledgeMembership of a professional H&S body e.g. IOSH, Chartered Graduatelevel• Post graduate or professional qualification in safety management and/or riskmanagement• Senior Health and Safety Practitioner• Knowledge of working in a complex organisation• Knowledge of using Health and Safety quality improvement tools to maintaina safe environments.

 Essential experienceAbility to commission Health & safety interventions as when needed at teamor organisational wide level.• Facilitation of Health and Safety workshops and tools to create aperformance culture.• Operating as a seasoned Health and Safety Advisor assisting leaders,managers with resolving health and safety issues through blendedintervention.• Experience of providing Health and Safety in Local Government• Experience of development, maintenance and implementation of H&S relatedpolicies and procedures• Experience of dealing with stress cases and the ability to carry out full DSEassessments.• Experience of delivering training on general health and safety and specificsubject areas such as risk assessment –interpreting legislation• Experience of achieving improvement of H&S compliance• Experience of auditing, accident investigation and risk assessment
