junior engineer or technical support officer to take forward the minor parking schemes programme as well as assist in other parking works programme such as dedicated disabled parking bays, cycle hangars etc
The post holder will be expected to take a role in the development, review and design, consultation, and delivery of work in the following area.

A. Parking Policy and Projects including:

⦁ Council’s parking policy and related charges
⦁ Controlled parking zones
⦁ Waiting and loading restrictions.
⦁ Electric Vehicle charging points and bays
⦁ Car club facilities
⦁ Cycle parking
⦁ Disabled parking bays
⦁ Minor parking changes
⦁ Other parking bay related provisions
⦁ Other parking infrastructure changes

Your knowledge will include:

  1. A working knowledge and application of traffic order making within a local authority.
  2. Detailed knowledge of all relevant legislative, technical, and operational aspects of the traffic order making process.
    Detailed knowledge of the consultation and publication requirements for the introduction or amendment of traffic management orders
  3. Working knowledge of the process for dealing with the legal objections to proposed schemes.
  4. Understanding of relevant legislation and statutory duties, for example, the Traffic Management Act, Highways Act
  5. Awareness of best practice in the traffic order making process including methods of customer care and consultation.
  6. The working of local government including the political context and current pressures and developments.

Your experience will include;

  1. The management of the traffic order making process including statutory requirements in respect of permanent, experimental and temporary orders.
  2. At least 4 years relevant experience including 2 years’ experience in drafting traffic management or similar regulatory orders.

You will have the skills and ability to:

  1. Act as a team player who can contribute to the management team and respond positively to the needs of other services.
  2. Develop strong working relationships – in your profession, in the council and with transport operators and external stakeholders.
  3. Prioritise your work and deliver services and performance in a high-pressured working environment.
  4. Ensure that assigned programmes and projects are managed and delivered in accordance with the Councils Equalities Policy.
  5. Communicate in writing and verbally to a high standard.
  6. Value your own learning and development and share knowledge and skills with others.
