Please note we require 3 temps to fulfil this role. The role is likely to last at least 6 months.
Working arrangements and locations will be very varied. Applicants should expect to undertake some home visiting and some office working regularly. A working week is likely to consist of a mix of both, and may include allowance for some home working once sufficiently familiar with the role. Although the team is based in Chichester, they are out and about across the county much of the time. Anyone able to access a corporate WSCC hub a few times a week would be sufficient – access to Chichester isn’t a pre-requisite.

Key Skills:

  1. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to facilitate and implement family support plans with volunteers.
  2. Able to build credible working relationships with partners and volunteers and to ensure high levels of commitment though well executed incentivisation.
  3. Ability to apply sensitive interpersonal skills with refugee families and to effectively communicate and provide support on managing daily life.
  4. Ability to organise/prioritise work, coordinate a variety of tasks in a clear and logical way to meet agreed deadlines and essential activities, that enhance refugee’s integration and independence.
  5. Ability to carry out training and awareness events to strengthen volunteers’ ability to support refugees.

Qualifications and/or experience:
⦁ Educated to degree level, or equivalent qualification or extensive experience in refugee resettlement and migration.
⦁ Experience in coordinating and working with volunteers in the resettlement context.
⦁ Experience in events planning and management (e.g. to enhance social connections, practice language, participation in community, includes running forums).
⦁ Detailed knowledge of refugees and migration, communities, minority groups, partners and stakeholders to be responsive to safeguarding and wellbeing issues including addressing racism, domestic abuse, antisocial behaviour.
