We are looking for an experienced Strategic Commissioning Manager for an initial period of 6 months, to lead our Children, Young People and Wellbeing team. The suitable candidate will have extensive experience in managing strategic change, leading projects and developing and supporting teams. 

The remit of the Children, Young People and Wellbeing team is broad, covering Children’s Services (including placement brokerage and strategic placement market development), Early Help, SEND, domestic abuse, all age carers and a range of wider wellbeing contracts. The team also oversee our Complex Lives Alliance contract, which includes substance misuse and housing options for those experiencing multiple disadvantage.

The successful candidate will work to the interim Head of Commissioning to lead on the delivery of the work plan for the team. Key projects over the next 6 months include:

•          Procurement and implementation of a new domestic abuse service for the city

•          Procurement of the young carers and substance misuse service

•          Action plan development and  implementation of a new placement sufficiency strategy

•          Recommissioning of a resettlement support service for Plymouth

•          Development of a commissioning and co-design approach to Ageing Well services

•          Development of a commissioning and co-design approach to Ageing Well services

The post holder will regularly attend meetings with senior leaders in Children’s Services and key partnership forums, as well as attending sub-regional and regional meetings and events. The ability to work closely with partners including NHS Devon ICB and education and VCSE organisations is essential.

Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.

Experienced and competent in using PC  Applications, including Microsoft products.

Experience of providing  application support to staff on a regular basis.

Knowledge and experience of the  social care environment and work processes.

Knowledge and experience in using CareFirst.
