Advert Mental Health social work in Kent has recently undergone really exciting transformation which has enabled us to develop a service based on recovery and social inclusion principles, designed to be accessible to anyone needing mental health and wellbeing support in both Primary and Secondary Care including those people who fall through the gaps between services. The service which is co located with our health colleagues is now looking to appoint a Social Worker. The role will offer you plenty of opportunities to both undertake and contribute to training initiatives and in-house core training courses, while assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating appropriate recovery plans. We are committed to working in co-production with service users and carers, within a recovery approach which maximises self-determination and empowerment. Working alongside multi-disciplinary colleagues and with other agencies, including Acute and Community Trusts, Primary Care Services and the voluntary sector you will support service users and carers to develop personalised care and support plans which draw on community resources in order to achieve the most positive outcomes.
You must also possess: Evidence of successful completion of the Assessed and Supported year in Employment (ASYE) or be willing to work towards this if Newly Qualified. Good working knowledge of all relevant Mental Health and Social Care legislation and Codes of Practice. You must also have a good understanding of SWE requirements.
A robust working knowledge of mental health conditions and treatments, and approaches to social work intervention. Good computer literacy and report writing skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and mediation and negotiation skills.
Working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, ability to work in partnership with people, the Kent Enablement and Recovery Service (KERS) and with our Strategic Partners to help identify services or resources in the community that can support well-being.

We are a countywide team aligned to the Local Community Mental Health Teams, inpatient settings and Forensic Services across Kent. We carry out the Designated Senior Officer role for managing adult safeguarding enquiries in line with S42 of the Care Act 2014, as well as embedding the principles of making safeguarding personal.
As a Safeguarding Coordinator you would be responsible for instigating and coordinating lines of enquiries and for the key decisions in response to safeguarding concerns. This will also include chairing adult safeguarding meetings.
You will also
Work closely with KCC’s Strategic Adult Safeguarding Unit and Quality assurance function to ensure new initiatives in practice, changes in policies and legislations are reflected in practice.
Work alongside Commissioners and colleagues in Mental Health to support good quality care and preventative practices with care providers.
Undertake peer audits and reviews to ensure continuous improvement of services.
Work closely with external partners to improve outcomes for residents of Kent.
There is one post available to cover West Kent. The base is Highlands House in Tunbridge Wells but we can be flexible. However, there is an expectation to cover across areas at times to provide a robust response and therefore flexibility is required. There will be times you will be required to travel around the county.
Approved Mental Health Professionals applying for this post will be required to continue to contribute to the AMHP rota. This post also requires an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

Job Purpose

• To represent the SEND Service at a range of meetings/panels to present advice regarding pupils with SEND
• Make appropriate and timely inputs to the SEND data system as require
• Support the SEND Service Manager by assisting with the induction of new members of staff
• Contribute to Case Management meetings and support the service to identify solutions in relation to complex cases
- Support and Guidance
• To provide support and guidance to operational support officers
• To assist the daily work of the operational support officers by identifying priorities and making operational decisions with regards to conflicting deadlines - Partnership working and training
• Attend meetings with parents, their advocates, parent groups, educational settings, Services or any stakeholder to resolve any disputes/disagreements/offer information regarding the business of the SEND Service
• Encourage and develop positive relationships with educational settings, parents and other agencies through high quality liaison and communication
• Consult and negotiate with educational settings and services in respect of children/young people with SEND to ensure that appropriate provision is made
• Participate in training of LA, school and college staff, Governors and other agencies in relation to the statutory processes and procedures
• Participate in inter-agency initiatives and priorities which are consistent with the needs of the SEND Section
• Liaise with Health and Social Services, voluntary groups and other agencies as required and work in partnership to develop provision for children/young people with SEN

“This is a new role within a new team and therefore postholders will need to be adaptable as the service will need to evolve during the implementation process. This role sits within the Outreach Team.
Customer Contact Officers will offer proactive housing advice to households who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, providing a first point of contact for residents with housing related problems. Officers will:
• Offer a reactive service to residents contacting the service for the first time or needing one off advice or assistance
• Offer a proactive service to residents identified as being at risk of homelessness by the Early Intervention Team
The Outreach Team will be flexibly located with core hubs across the borough. Services will also be provided from a wide range of locations including other agencies and these will change over time.
The role is to provide effective, high quality support to customers to help them prevent or relieve their homelessness and then sustain their accommodation by providing specialist advice and support.
