Cardiff Day service are looking for asupport worker to work in the day service team team supporting adults with a learning disability to access da.y time opportunities
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To carry out tasks negotiated through supervision, or other relevant forum, within the agreed time span.
- To support service users to enable them to achieve the targets outlined in the Day Service Plan as identified via Community Care Assessments or other assessment procedures.
- In consultation with the Link Worker/Day Service Officer, to liaise with the carers to ensure understanding and consistency of the service provided.
- In consultation with the Link Worker/Day Service Officer to liaise with other services as and when this is needed by the service users.
- To attend to the personal and physical needs of service users where necessary in a respectful manner.
- To foster service users equality, diversity, rights and responsibilities.
- To carry out duties as agreed with the Day Service Officers using the resources available at the service base and in the community.
- To report to the appropriate Day Service Manager any concern regarding the well being of service users in relation to the Vulnerable Adults Policy.
- To maintain appropriate records and to help compile reports in accordance with any format required by the County Council.
- To participate in staff meetings, staff development programmes and relevant training programmes.
- To participate actively in supporting the principles and practice of equality of opportunity as laid down in the organisation’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
- To be responsible for your own Health and Safety and observe all regulations in relation to the Health and Safety at Work Act.

- Ability to support people who have additional impairments which may challenge services.
- Able to implement Day Service Plans as agreed with Day Service Officer.
- Able to work within policies and procedures set out by Cardiff County Council.
- Able to respond sensitively to individuals physical and personal care.
- Able to respond flexibly to the needs of service users.
- Able to record information accurately, concisely and factually in a variety of formats.
- Ability to work with and support individuals and groups in a variety of settings.
- Ability of adapt to changes in methods of service delivery.
- Able to organise own workload effectively.
- Experience of working flexibly and co-operatively with others.
- Ability of working effectively under pressure.
- Able to maintain confidentiality in line with county policy.
Education & Training
⦁ Demonstrable basic Health & Safety knowledge relevant to the job, according to Section 7 HSWA and Council policy.
⦁ All Wales Passport Manual Handling – Modules A-F
⦁ Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
Training in emergency aid
Specific Experience
⦁ One years experience of working with people with disabilities
Desirable to have NVQ II in care
