Nations Recruitment are excited to recruit a Senior Solicitor on behalf of Luton Borough Council.
As Senior Solicitor you will responsible to provide legal services to the Council and Departmental Executives. You will be an ambassador providing legal advice on various case loads particularly in relation to child care and related matters.
To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate the ability to undertake legal work with minimum supervision as well as considerable exposure dealing with complex childcare cases, experience of advocacy for the council before Courts and Tribunals.

About The Role
Provide legal advice, often in highly complex matter to Officers and Members of the Council.
Represent the Council before Courts and Tribunals as an unsupervised advocate.
Complying with all current practices and procedures, taking reasonable actions to achieve solution.
Preparing reports and give legal procedural advice on complex matters to enable decision in accordance with the law.
Support on projects across various departments when necessary to implement polices accordingly.
Provide extensive assistance to Principal Solicitor (Social Service) to develop the Social Services Team

About You
Substantial experience of advocacy before Courts and Tribunals and dealing with childcare case.
Essential knowledge of Child Care Law with demonstrable knowledge of English Law and Law of Evidence.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to articulate both written and verbal.
Highly organised, demonstrating ability to successfully plan/prioritise own caseloads
Persuasive with the ability to influence and render judgement.
Qualified Solicitor with current practicing certificate
Qualified Barrister with right of audience under paragraph 402.1© and 402.2 of the Code of Conduct for Barristers in England and Wales.
Eligible to work in the UK.
