Job Purpose:
To deliver an improved street scene through provision of cleansing and maintenance services
Duties and Responsibilities
Job Specific

1. General cleansing activities including litter picking (all land including parks and grass verges), leaf fall management, sweeping, digging out of channels, and litter bin emptying.
2. Removal of fly-tipped waste including furniture and bagged waste.
3. Ensure safe removal of hazardous and mixed wastes e.g. needles, broken glass oil and blood spillages, dead animals and faeces.
4. Act as point of contact for customer to advise of litter and environmental issues and take ownership of issues using own initiative to report or address these accordingly.
5. Provision of (internal) cleansing services such as hoovering and cleaning of public conveniences.
6. Assist with gritting activities during the winter period by filling and distributing grit bags and grit, digging out snow and footpaths.
7. Using power tools such as jet washers, hand mowers, blowers, hedge cutters and strimmers and drills.
8. Install bins to pavement slabs or asphalt.
9. Clean and paint street furniture such as cabinets, benches, railings and signs.
10. Rope working on steep inclines to clear litter and fly tipping.
11. BaBasic traffic management to support cleansing activities on highways – cones and signage.
12. Driving and maintaining vehicles and completing all relevant paperwork such as drivers daily return sheets, defect book and accident forms.
