Responsible to the Team Manager and Senior Practitioners
The Assistant Practitioner OT supports the OPPPD Contact Team by managing the general inbox, responding to emails, phone calls, and referrals received by phone. The role includes providing information and advice to clients and professionals within the community, completing initial OT screenings, and identifying both occupational therapy and social care needs for further assessment. The practitioner can order minor equipment as appropriate, signpost to relevant community resources, and escalate immediate risks or complex cases to the manager. Initial screening of referrals covers both OT and social work-related matters to ensure timely and appropriate responses.
Responsibilities
1. Operate effectively within own organisational frameworks and within multi-agency and inter-professional settings.
2. Undertake trusted assessment/provision functions to promote independence and, where appropriate, offer access to standard equipment, which may involve the issuing of an equipment prescription or promotion of self-funding options
3. Use judgement and authority to intervene with individuals, families and communities to promote independence, provide support and prevent harm, neglect and abuse.
4. Ensure those accessing the service, including families and carers, are at the centre of decision making over their support arrangements and that opportunities for choice and control are optimised and reflected in their assessments and reviews.
5. Maintain the Directorate’s records by recording assessments and other data accordingly ensuring that all data entered meets the relevant and stated levels of accuracy, quality and timeliness required.
6. To communicate effectively and sensitively with people and carers, regardless of their spoken language or communication status. Adapt communication techniques as the situation demands making best use of resources and other methods of communication.

Working as an Occupational Therapist in the Countywide review team, your role will involve working with adults from 18 years and upwards with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries and chronic health conditions.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To develop and provide a flexible and high quality Placements Service with the purpose of:
improving placement choice and stability for children in care; improving the experience of
social workers, foster carers and children in identifying suitable placements; delivering the best
possible value to the Council in terms of cost and quality of placements.
To provide bespoke packages of practical support to foster carers, young people and families in
the community to maximise placement viability and stability, prevent placement breakdown and
retain foster carers. Also to identify matches between children and suitable foster carers who can
meet their emotional, educational, cultural and health needs, and who can provide stability and a
sense of belonging.
To work collaboratively to provide a service which is both relationship-based and which responds
in a timely manner within required timeframes.
This is a senior role NOT an entry level role and the pay reflects that

CHILDREN’s SERVICES: You will work as part of the Access To Resources Team (ART) – responding quickly to referrals from Social Work Teams seeking the right placement and support for our children and young people.
You will work with the service to identify trusted providers in Supported Accommodation, Residential care and Fostering agencies where we place our children
This is a hybrid role requiring colleagues to be in the office at least 2 days / week and up to 5 days for the week when they are on duty
You will work proactively within the Placements Team to ensure all children are placed in suitable placements, monitoring referral patterns and use of Independent Fostering Agencies
In this role you will negotiate on placement costs/support packages to ensure cost effective placements. Also ensuring
placements are agreed by authorising managers and placements contracts (IPAs) are completed in a timely manner as well as
Mosaic finances.
Once placements are agreed you will keep in touch with the providers and children building relationships and demonstrating to providers that we are investing in them
You will be expected to undertake a number of Quality Assurance visits to placements that you or team members make
You will attend a team meeting every week day at 9 A.M. to track and maintain an overview of all children waiting for placements and monitor progress on
identifying suitable carers / homes – you will be expected to proactively contribute to the discussions

This is a key role for delivering a more inclusive education system through a locality structure. Inclusion Senior Leads will have specialisms (e.g. Home, Peer and Adapted Learning, Early Years, Post 16, Children Looked After). Within their specialism they will be an expert within the council on this area of provision for children’s education, working with other Senior Leads to build a more inclusive system for all children. Part-time supervised Contact Worker to work within our Children’s Contact Centre Service (across various venues within the London Borough of Bromley)
