MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Act as case holders for complex cases that step down from children’s social care (level 3/2). - OFSW’s will align their work to the Signs of Safety (SOS) model – which is underpinned by solution focused methods promoting a whole family approach and use the Family Outcomes Star (or similar) to gauge and demonstrate progress towards positive outcomes.
- Support families/carers in developing practical parenting strategies which enhance positive parent/carer-child relations. This can include facilitated meetings between family members.
- Keep effective records on the electronic systems, which includes the recording of plans, assessments, chronologies and associated general notes.
- Attend regular supervision sessions with the Consultant Social Worker and provide evidence that work is progressing and that plans are improving outcomes for children and young people.
- Visit children, young people and families in their home environment to provide targeted support to improve outcomes.
- Meet the requirements set out in the Early Help Hub Practice Standards.
- Support the delivery of supervised contact to cases that are open to Early Help.

To have undertaken complex and intricate prosecutions in relation to the Housing Act.
Ability to carry out enforcement actions in relation to Prohibition powers under relevant legislation
Ability to inspect all categories of premises and as dictated by relevant Codes of Practice and guidance
Experience of fully managing a group of staff, setting and monitoring individual targets and addressing poor performance.
Experience of working in an Environmental Health department, investigating complaints, determining applications and devising complex sampling protocols.
Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health.
Achieved registration with the CIEH Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) and depending on date of the award of the EHRB, to have passed/working towards the Assessment of Professional Competence or Assessment of Professional Development scheme of the CIEH.
