CHILDREN’s SERVICES: To work as part of the Access To Resources Team – responding quickly to referrals from Social Work Teams seeking the right placement and support for our children and young people.
This is a hybrid role requiring colleagues to be in the office at least 2 days / week and 5 days for the week when they are on duty
work proactively within the Placements Team to ensure all children are placed in suitable
placements, monitoring referral patterns and use of Independent Fostering Agencies (IFAs), and
ensure that senior managers are alerted to any risks or threats in relation to sufficiency.

endings, and ensure that high quality management information is available to assist in the planning

- negotiate on placement costs/support packages to ensure cost effective placements. Also ensuring placements are agreed and placements contracts (IPAs) are completed in a timely manner as well as Mosaic finances.
- help put systems in place to ensure foster carers and providers are paid promptly and that any additional or special payments are processed in a fair and transparent way, in keeping with the operating principles of the Fostering Payment Policy.
- track and maintain an overview of all children waiting for placements and monitor progress on identifying suitable carers. Alert senior managers to any corporate threat or risks relating to the council’s sufficiency strategy.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Responsibilities

We are looking for a qualified social worker to join the Children’s Integrated Disability Service, in north Powys. We are a team of social workers and Wellbeing workers that closely link in with health, education, and other organisations to assess and support children with signifcant disabilities or health diagnosis. You will be based in the north of Powys and this role encompasses part office based, part working from home.?

What you will do:?
-This social work role encompasses elements from across the field of childrens social work, as the IDS team are a through care team and you could be undertaking a mixture of social work practices; new cases for assessment, Care & support, Child protection, children that are looked after and some court work/ adoption work. ?
-As a qualified social worker, this role will be to hold Care and Support cases, and possibly some initial assessments.
-We are offering a manageable case load, in an experienced, friendly, and supportive team.?
-We support children who have a disability or health diagnosis to lead a happy, stable, and fulfilling life. This could mean supporting children who experience neurological impairment, learning disabilities, and/ or various health diagnosis, such as Cerebral Palsy, Down’s syndrome, genetic conditions, Epilepsy, sensory impairment, and mobility impairment. Some children we support have health input, or a comorbidity diagnosis and could also experience mental illness, trauma, Autism, or ADHD. ?
- DBS:
Because of the nature of the work involved, the post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). This position has a requirement for an Enhanced DBS Check, this position is classed as regulated activity under the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 and will be subject to a check to the list of those people barred from working with children.

Experienced Early Help Practitioners are required to join the Family Help and Support Team tenable as soon as possible. Candidates must be able to work five days per week, Monday to Friday in person. The Family Help and Support team works in partnership and collaboration as part of the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub to ensure that children, young people, families receive an effective service response at the first point of contact with early help.
The work is varied and challenging requiring the ability to work within tight deadlines and multi task to respond to the needs of families. The role will involve carrying out early help enquiries from MASH, progressing help and support requests to secure access to services and undertaking immediate help visits to support families where appropriate. This will involve substantial contact with social care, early help teams, universal and community resources
As an experienced practitioner you will deliver an ‘outstanding’ Family Early Help Service as part of Southwark’s Children & Families Directorate, driving best practice in whole family work in a systemically informed way.
Provide specialist knowledge on early intervention best practice, leading on key areas for outcome based interventions (such as Troubled Families risk factors) and drive practice within and across the early help system
Lead on work with families where children have been identified as at risk of poor outcomes
and provide early help for emerging problems in order to improve impact, engage families
better and avoid escalation to higher levels of statutory intervention
Support continued progress of families who have ‘stepped down’ from statutory work and
work with a high level of complexity
Act as a lead professional and work with all family members to assess their needs and
develop a whole family plan to achieve agreed outcomes that promote the safeguarding
of children, attendance at school and positive citizenship
Work directly with children and families and actively engage them in sustainable change
within the resources available, enforcing positive parenting responsibility through a twin
track approach of high challenge and high support.
