Salary: £17.21.
The Financial Assessment Officer role is to provide accurate and timely financial assessments for permanency carers and young people, obtaining relevant information regarding income and benefits to calculate the level of financial support required. Also to provide administrative support to the Placement Management unit and to support the procurement of accommodation and packages of support for young people. The ideal candidate will have
proven record of working in a support function of a busy finance department. You will have excellent numeracy and IT skills especially google sheets and good communication skills with the confidence to challenge others appropriately.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to understand and interpret complex guidelines and legislation.
Proven analytical skills and ability to present complex information clearly.
Able to plan, prioritise and organise own work in line with the Service Area or Directorate objectives and client requirements.
Good numerical skills and attention to detail.
Good written and verbal communication skills with a confident and helpful telephone manner.
Ability to use Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and Power point to a high standard.
Ability to deal with situations and information with tact and discretion.
Ability to build effective working relationships.
Ability to work as part of a team to promote and maintain co-ordinated and effective ways of working.
Able to adopt a flexible approach to problem solving
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Good working knowledge of the welfare benefits system
Experience of maintaining financial and administrative systems
Experience of working under pressure in a busy office environment and to tight deadlines
Knowledge and understanding of local government and its context, and key, current local government financial issues
Awareness of, and sensitivity to, the needs of vulnerable children and their families
Understanding of Equal Opportunities, and Data Protection legislation
Understanding of the role and responsibilities of the children’s services function
