MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
Cleaning, Domestic and Premises duties:

  6. To report any health and safety hazards to Head of Centre.
  7. To operate Centre washing machines and dryers, loading the machines to wash and dry garments, towels, face cloths, dressing up clothes and any items as and when required.
  8. To be responsible for the safety of the utility area, and parent/children kitchen area, ensuring that all machinery is switched off and safe when not in use, mopping dry any spillage immediately and sorting safely all cleaning chemicals when not in use, in accordance with the Council’s safe working practices.
  9. To prepare light snacks as and when required and to clean and wash up dishes.

Children — all duties under the Direction of Nursery Officers/ Teachers:

  • 10. To assist in the general care, activities and comforting of children.
  • 11. To assist setting out materials and equipment for children’s activities and tidying up afterwards.
  • 12. To accompany Teachers/Nursery Officers taking groups of children on visits and outings.
  • 13. To change and rinse out soiled clothes and assist children in toileting.

As a Social worker you will be actively involved in facilitating complex discharges from Acute and Community Hospitals within Shropshire and within neighbouring counties to repatriate Shropshire residents back home whilst also providing an Admission Avoidance service.

Main Purpose of Post:
The Registered Manager will set the operational direction and oversee the effective running of the service provision to meet the statement of purpose and children and young people’s needs identified within care and support plans. Golwg y Bannau provides placements to meet the needs of children and young people with complex needs and learning disabilities.

Principal Responsibilities:

  1. To manage the provision in order to ensure that the needs and outcomes for children and young people with disabilities and complex needs are achieved. To carry out such other duties, appropriate to the post, as may reasonably be required.
  2. To oversee all aspects of the day to day running of the home. This will include ensuring staffing rotas are maintained and that adequate staffing levels are in place, taking account of staff sickness and annual leave commitments. Key Tasks:
To ensure oversight of all care proceedings in Powys (or an area within Powys). Tasks:
⦁ Develop and maintain a database in order to monitor the progress of all care proceedings and pre-proceedings in the department/area
⦁ Provide reports in relation to this information to assist the Local Authority to project demand for placements, therapeutic or other relevant services.
⦁ Ensure that all children who are the subject of care proceedings have been subject to the relevant permanence planning processes in order to determine the care plan.
⦁ Ensure that Social Workers have the resources they need in order to submit court reports on time and to a high standard.
⦁ Provide practical assistance to Social Workers to ensure that they can complete court work to a good standard.
⦁ Ensure that all work to be filed before the court has been through a QA process and that the views and feelings of the child are reflected and have been actively considered in drawing up the statement.
