Duties and Responsibilities:
- To promote flexible and team based working and to work flexibly across the service to ensure that all daily recycling and waste collections and tasks are completed on the scheduled day.
- To work flexibly as part of the Recycling and Waste team in all areas and on all waste streams, vehicles or crews as directed by a Supervisor as part of group / depot based team working – whereby all teams work together until the daily collections / work tasks have been completed. This means that teams working on recycling collections work together as one team to complete all recycling collection tasks; the same applies to teams working on refuse collection and garden waste collections.
- To work flexibly, including longer hours as and when required, where vehicle breakdowns, traffic congestion / accidents, delays at waste transfer stations or bank holidays make it necessary to do so in order to complete service delivery on the specified day.
- To promote a professional image of the council at all times by the maintenance and proper wearing of uniform, protective clothing and ID and to report any missing or damaged items (e.g. torn clothing) to a supervisor before leaving the depot and to the Environmental Team Leader whilst on site. Personal identification must be worn and displayed at all times.
- To empty and return the full range of recycling and waste containers on the allocated round;
- To safely load and remove wheeled bins used for residual / trade waste, garden waste and recycling materials using bin lift mechanisms.

Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary:
The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of the Council’s Vehicle Maintenance Workshop, to ensure the workshop runs effectively and efficiently.
This a management role and will include responsibility for arranging, supervising and controlling quality and productivity of all work either contracted out or carried out by Council Staff on the Council’s Vehicles, Plant and Equipment.
The post holder will ensure that all works carried out comply with the requirements of the Goods Vehicle Operator License, the Council’s duty of care legislation and any other legal or contractual obligations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
General Management:
⦁ Lead, organise, supervise and motivate staff to meet and deliver required objectives and maintain a supportive management culture throughout the Vehicle Maintenance service.
⦁ Manage and ensure that all cost, quality and performance targets are achieved in line with Council procedures and systems.
⦁ Provide advice and hands on assistance on all vehicle, plant and equipment maintenance matters including plating and testing, construction and use, driver/operator safety, vehicle legislation, vehicle specification and design and any other vehicle related issues.
⦁ Implement controls to monitor efficiency and performance to ensure that the level of work undertaken in-house, contracted out or carried out under warranty is to a high standard which satisfies best practice, VOSA/TRU requirements, manufacturer’s recommendations and all other legal requirements and regulations applicable.
⦁ Establish and maintain effective operational procedures to assist the workshop in achieving its aims efficiently, which includes reviewing the standard operating procedures of the unit and making recommendations for improvements to the Line Manager.
⦁ Provide a safe working environment for all employees, visitors, contractors and subcontractors, by managing and monitoring all activities within the workshop to ensure they are carried out in line with Health and Safety Regulations, the Council’s policies and procedures and best practice.
⦁ Review the stockholdings of parts and materials for vehicles and plant equipment, to ensure a constant supply of necessary parts and be responsible for the placing of orders and the certifying of supplier invoices, in line with Council procedure for non-stocked goods and services.
⦁ Implement, manage and develop information systems as required in line with the Section’s requirements and evolving needs.
⦁ Responsible for the production and presentation of schedules, reports and other data as required, in line with deadlines.
⦁ Liaise with customers, clients, contractors and sub-contractors as required.
⦁ Attend and where necessary represent Line Manager at meetings with regard to the Vehicle Maintenance Workshop.
⦁ Undertake such other relevant duties as may from time to time be required by their Line Manager or Head of Facilities Management.
⦁ Operate and maintain office & workshop based computer based information systems and databases to agreed standards and output.

Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary:
⦁ To undertake the efficient administration of the Council’s Waste Management Data as directed by the Performance and Quality Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:
⦁ To be responsible for the collation and input of information relating to all aspects of Waste collected and processed by Council e.g. Waste Management Licences and Pre Treatment Documentation.
⦁ To extract and report on relevant management information from both electronic and paper based systems on a weekly basis to enable accurate data is available for statutory reporting e NIEA i.e. Waste Data Flow, Standard Industrial Classification Reports and NILAS. Timely reporting to NIEA to avoid financial penalties circa £5k.
⦁ To reconcile Waste Transfer Documentation with invoices and provide information and payment assurance on all waste streams for certification by Budget Holder.
⦁ To be responsible for the reception of invoices from Drumanakelly commercial customers and the preparation of invoices to such customers.
⦁ To provide accurate and timely information for inclusion in Statutory reports adhering to legislative timescales as prescribed by NIEA.
⦁ To assist the Performance and Quality Officer in responding to information requests from both internal and external sources e.g. FOI requests.
⦁ To assist with the collation of information pertaining to the Environmental Services Quality Standards e.g. ISO 14001.
⦁ To assist the Performance and Quality Officer in monitoring landfill diversion and recycling targets as prescribed by relevant Legislation.
⦁ To work with and provide information for NIEA auditors for WDF, NILAS, and S.I.C. Assist External Auditors to validate the accuracy of locally held and reported data.
⦁ To arrange for the purchase of goods/and or services when authorised in accordance with the Council’s Procurement Policy, raising, checking, recording and processing invoices for authorisation.
⦁ To provide monthly/annual bin stock information for the management accounts administrator.
⦁ To contribute to Corporate and Departmental working groups as required.
⦁ To support the execution of the Council’s Emergency Plan when required.

The Health Improvement Worker will champion key health improvement priorities between local government and the health sector, identified by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council (NMDDC) and the Public Health Agency (PHA). This will be achieved by developing and delivering on an action plan to improve the health outcomes for marginalised, disadvantaged and excluded individuals and communities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as a champion for addressing health and wellbeing inequalities within Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
- Develop, manage, coordinate and review Health Improvement Plans and offer ongoing support and assistance to ensure that objectives/targets are met.
- Develop an Action Plan to tackle health and wellbeing inequalities which will contribute to the Council’s Community Plan.
- Carry out research and analysis and report on same to Line Management regarding policy development, reports, relevant legislation, policy papers and other consultation documents in line with area of work.
- Identify funding opportunities to tackle health and wellbeing inequalities within the Council area relevant to the post, in conjunction with Line Management.
- Develop and manage Council led Health Improvement projects, as per guidelines laid down by funders, partners and Council to include:
a. the preparation of funding applications
b. implementing, reporting and evaluating projects (including claims) and budget administration. - Develop and analyse specifications and tenders for projects relevant to the post, ensuring that the Council receives value for money. Liaise with successful companies to manage the projects through from specification to completion, including administration of appropriate budgets.
- Maintain the effective and efficient management of records and document retention procedures to ensure compliance with all Council and Funder policies and audit procedures.
- Liaise, engage and consult with relevant stakeholders, including Elected Members, Council departments, user groups, voluntary and statutory agencies to promote the relevant areas of responsibility to meet the needs of the service.
- Develop and maintain communication networks with key partners in the statutory, community, voluntary and social sectors using a variety of methods to promote the work of the post.
- Provide a link between Local Government and health and wellbeing services within the health and social care and other sectors, including those provided by the community and voluntary sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to a number of Council Officers on a daily basis including acting as point of contact for a service or department.
