JOB PURPOSE:

General Description of Role:
The Casual Cook will be working in one of the three Community Centres – Woodhatch, Horley or Banstead. The role involves running all aspects of the catering service at the centre by providing meals, snacks and beverages to members and users of the centre, delivering the service in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
This role is to predominantly provide cover across the centres as and when required.
Responsibilities of Role:
- To work with the centre’s manager to provide the catering offer, ensuring tasty, healthy, and varied meals are provided.
- To prepare and serve a range of hot and cold meals, snack bar lunches, snacks, cakes and beverages as required and prepare three course meals for centre events or hirers.
- Liaise with kitchen staff, management, and customers to ensure the smooth running of the catering function, and deal with any customer concerns.
- Provide excellent service to all café and centre customers – taking their orders, answering questions, handling cash and card transactions, serving food and drinks, and clearing tables, in a friendly, polite and efficient manner.
- Maintain a calm, organised and professional approach at all times, including during busy periods.
- To maintain and clean the kitchen and café area and all equipment including appliances in a clean, tidy and safe state. (NB role includes cleaning the kitchen, including equipment and floors.)
- To clear tables and wash up (washing up is done by hand prior to sterilising), and to ensure that tea-towels, tablecloths etc. are laundered daily, working cooperatively with other staff and volunteers.
- To undertake all duties in compliance with Safer Food, Better Business food safety procedures and level 2 Food Heigan (Training will be provided if necessary.), To be responsible for relevant monitoring, evaluation and record keeping, including records required for compliance with Safer Food, Better Business food hygiene regulations.

MAIN DUTIES:

Working under the direction of the one of the Restart Team Leader, the post holder will work within a new team providing a bespoke employment support service for unemployed and/or vulnerable people with health conditions who have been referred to the DWPs Restart Programme to assist them in seeking, obtaining and sustaining employment.
EDUCATION:
Educated to Level 3 in a business, employment, training or care related discipline or equivalent level of experience in the business, employment, training or care sector
Functional level of literacy and numeracy skills (level 2) or willingness to achieve
EXPERIENCE:
Front line experience of working in a customer focused environment
Experience of working on employability or training programmes to assist people into or back to work

The Education Welfare Officer will manage a caseload where the prevailing issue is nonparticipation in education but may also include working with:
- Higher need families with complex and multiple difficulties involved in or at risk of being involved in crime, antisocial behaviour, disengagement with education and risk of homelessness or edge of care; and
- Lower need families experiencing difficulties that are likely to become more complex and entrenched without a brief solution focused intervention.

The Education Welfare Officer will:
- develop, implement and review evidence based intervention plans based on assessed needs, which address areas of concern with a focus on matters impacting on a child or a young person’s participation in EET whilst promoting problems solving skills/strategies within the family. - develop, implement and review Attendance Plans for pupils within the context of the early help assessment and team around the family methodology.

- provide guidance, advice and training to parents on child and adolescent development, managing conflict and challenging behaviour and on the EET opportunities and pathways, where required.

- attend case conferences, statutory reviews, court and other meetings as required.
- maintain timely and concise electronic case records and written reports that evidence the work undertaken and the progress achieved.

EXPERIENCE:

HS suffered from a Traumatic Brain Injury sustained from RTA 17/09/2017 HS was admitted to Salford Royal Hospital with the following injuries Frontotemporal extradural Haematoma, Frontotemporal subdural haematoma, Frontotemporal contusions and temporal bone fracture.
A decompressive craniectomy was performed along with evacuation of EDH,SDH and an ICP bolt was inserted to monitor cranial pressure. VP shunt inserted 15/12/2017, Decannulated 27/03/2018
HS was transferred to a Rehabilitation service in Birmingham in June 2018. A SMART assessment was completed and was diagnosed with being in a minimally conscious state.
HS emerged from this and made progress. HS was then transferred to St Cyrils Rehab Chester on 08/01/2019 for on going therapy.
HS did not have any medical issues before her accident.
HS needs full support with all activities of day to day living. Drug administration. HS needs help with Personal Hygiene and pad changes, and assistance with Mobility and positioning.
Communication and anticipating my needs will enable HS to live her life to the full.
HS parents are fully involved with her rehabilitation process.

HSF and he is 23 years old. He lives at home with his mum step-dad and his 5 brothers. He also visits his Dad and dads’ girlfriend and her 3 children regularly. HSF was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 15 years old. He has Down’s syndrome and a learning age of 3-4 years. As such, he is unable to manage his diabetes himself as he cannot dial up the units required on the insulin pen, however he can administer his injections into his abdomen by himself. HSF diabetes can become unstable and he can experience high and low blood sugars. When HSF has have high blood sugars this can result in HSF having a mood swings and becoming stubborn. If his blood sugars are low this results in him becoming emotional and he has been known to cry as a result of this. Whoever supports him in college will have to be vigilant around this as he can also become anxious. HSF blood sugars are monitored throughout the day and he also has a diabetes app on the phone. In the past he has had Asthma, but this no longer causes him any problems. HSF doesn’t become breathless and doesn’t require any medication for this condition. Occasionally he can experience episodes of Glue ear. He also wear glasses. He can communicate verbally but also use a little Makaton. HSF tends to show people what he means if he can’t tell them. HSF is very good at being adaptable and have a high level of understanding. However, he can process situations slowly. He can sometimes find it hard to express himself and may mumble and look for the things that he wants.
