Salary: Negotiable
Term: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 08:00 – 16:30 Monday to Friday (extra hours as required)
Location: Coryton, London

The Company
We are a container sales business, part of a large group of freight, shipping and logistics companies based in London. Our container depot, based in Coryton now requires a Gate Manager. The organisation is shifting heavily to IT-based processes, and has a roadmap which includes automation and increased use of technology in an ever-shifting industry.
As part of the larger group of companies, the tools we’re deploying need to be properly managed at the yard-side of the business. Our organisation is importing vast quantities of equipment from abroad and we expect that the yard traffic will increase dramatically as a result. As we’ve recently implemented a new software system, the yard will be responsible for the successful tracking of containers moving in and out, and periodic stock checks of large volumes of containers.

The Role
As Depot Gate Manager, you’ll be responsible for learning how the new system is managed, as well as communicating between the various locations within the yard.
When vehicles arrive, you’ll be responsible for taking sufficient details of the boxes they’re there to collect or deliver. You’ll be comfortable communicating with drivers and the office team (based in Rainham) identifying the origin of the box and tallying this up with bookings in the system.
You’ll be tasked with liaising with the office team to coordinate the boxes and follow up with boxes of unknown origin, supporting the Container Control Manager with the accurate and efficient management of containers within the yard. You’ll work alongside the Yard Manager to coordinate efforts in Repairs, Maintenance and Upgrades and work with the transport and shunting team to coordinate effective management of the space.
Person Specification
 Time Management: You’ll be organised with your time, and be able to manage up to 50 vehicles during a busy day – and fill time during days with lighter traffic with organisational efforts such as stock takes, data management and coordinating with the office-team  IT Literate: The system requires IT competence for the successful management of containers into
and out of the yard. This system will be underpinned with security cameras. You’ll log into the camera tracking system to capture data not captured, or otherwise missed

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have:
• Experience in shipping, container, freight, cargo and/or civilian or military logistics
• IT Literacy in depot management systems, container transport systems, Excel or other logistics systems
• Communications proficiency, able to confidently and ably communicate to drivers, office team members and gather information as is necessary
• Tenacity to get the pertinent information, remember the information and submit the data to the system
• Team Player personality to support the other teammates in the yard, the office team, and the other organisations working to get the space operating effectively and efficiently.
