Carpenter –

PURPOSE OF JOB:
To support Hackney Housing in providing throughout the London Borough of Hackney and other locations as directed, a high quality cyclical, planned and reactive repairs and maintenance service to internal and external elements of occupied and unoccupied properties, public buildings and associated external areas. 

Provide outstanding customer service and excellent standards of performance to the public and residents of Hackney.

COUNCIL SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITY:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Carry out to the highest standard all aspects of carpentry and joinery repairs and installations, encompassing Carcass, first / second fix and bespoke carpentry fittings. Undertake a broad range of multi-skilled repair activities outside of the basic trade such as minor plumbing, glazing and finishing works to provide a comprehensive repair service. 

Including but not limited to – 
⦁ Force entry and make good.
⦁ Ease and adjust doors, and windows.
⦁ Repair / replace windows, doors, frames, garage doors etc.    
⦁ Resin repairs to external joinery
⦁ Replacement joinery doors, frames, windows etc. build other items as required.
⦁ Replacement ironmongery, grab rails, fixtures and fittings and the like. 
⦁ Staircases, flights, wall strings, treads, risers, handrails balustrade, posts etc.  
⦁ Stud partitioning & dry lining to walls. 
⦁ Repair / Replace floor & ceiling joists with associated metalwork. 
⦁ Repair / replace floor boarding etc. 
⦁ Ductwork and bath panels. 
⦁ Kitchen base/floor units, worktops, pelmet, trims etc. 
⦁ Carpentry and associated plumbing and finishing works to install complete sink base units
⦁ Skirting, architrave, beads, window boards, rails, mouldings, shelving and like
⦁ Manufacture formwork and cast minor concrete components sills / lintels etc.
⦁ Repair / replace roof joists, purlins, fascia, soffit and barge boards etc.  

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:  
⦁ Hold a clean full  UK Drivers Licence
⦁ City and Guilds in NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry & or relevant experience.

SKILLS & ABILITY:
⦁ Able to work as a member of a team and self manage duties when working alone. 
⦁ Able to prioritise and use own initiative in organising and undertaking tasks.
⦁ The ability to follow drawings and plans.
⦁ Good practical skills with a careful and methodical approach to work.

You are invited to join the clinical team in Hackney, working in an innovative and integrated way within Children and Families Services. This particular post is working within a multi disciplinary team of professionals specifically created in response to the coronavirus pandemic which has impacted many children and young people (CYP) and their families. The team will be specifically working with young people presenting with issues related to clinical risk and the offer will be intensive intervention.
Our team is part of the City and Hackney CAMHS Alliance, and we provide high quality and evidence-based clinical assessments and interventions to children, young people and their families as well as consultation and training to social care staff, youth workers and foster carers.


Clinicians within our service represent a range of disciplines, including Clinical Psychology, Systemic Psychotherapy, Child Psychotherapy, Forensic Psychology, Occupational Therapy, and Couples Therapy.  They deliver high quality assessments and multi-modal, evidence-based interventions to children who have a wide range of presenting needs in relation to their emotional health and wellbeing, family lives and wider systems.  Clinicians also provide complex CAMHS assessments of children funded by the Adoption Support Fund. We offer assessments within the Public Law Outline and for the Youth Courts. Training provided by our Clinicians includes AFT-accredited postgraduate Systemic training, as well as training for foster carers and consultation to professionals from a range of disciplines. Hackney Children and Families Services holds a commitment to Systemic practice.


You will also have the opportunity to be part of innovative service developments, such as the development of Contextual Safeguarding practice to address peer risk issues.


Hackney’s clinical service is well-established and has a strong learning culture as well as ongoing ties to local and national partners in developing best practice. Clinicians have the opportunity to work across Children’s Social Care, Youth Justice, Early Help.  Clinicians deliver evidence-based assessments to children and their families in their homes, placements and other community settings. This includes individual, family and group work. Clinical supervision and line management is provided within the service in line with professional governance requirements. Specialist supervision and CPD is available for therapeutic approaches including Systemic practice, VIG, the Parent Child Game, Theraplay and DDP.

⦁ To carry out interventions and inspections of premises and the enforcement of legislation relevant to such inspections over the full range of environmental health including food safety, health & safety, environmental protection, animal welfare, housing standards and public health legislation administered by the Councils.

⦁ To assist with licensing and enforcement duties with regard to a range of premises and persons required to be licensed or registered by the Council.

⦁ To carry out such administrative duties commensurate with the post and to keep and maintain records.
