Context
Facilities Management and the wider Property service is undergoing transformation at Royal Borough of Kingston, and we are looking to build an FM team that will provide excellence in delivery following services being recommissioned in October 2022.

It’s an exciting and challenging time and we are looking for skilled and dedicated FM professionals to join the team. You will need to have extensive, proven experience of working client-side within a local government or similar environment; possess a wealth of building services management experience; work with drive and initiative; be a positive and pragmatic thinker, have very good influencing and negotiating skills; and enjoy collaborative team working, sharing the successes this brings.

Roles will require Monday to Friday working, ability to attend the offices in Kingston and around the borough as required to thoroughly oversee and manage services, as well as some opportunities for remote working. We need to build and maintain a consistent service so want people that can devote time for at least three months – with the possibility of a permanent role thereafter.

Key deliverables

The Later Life service in St Helens works with individuals aged 67+ with age related frailty and mental health issues such as dementia. This is a busy team with the Social workers competing Care Act assessments on individuals, devising care plans and reviewing services. The social workers have a busy caseload and are expected to manage a high number of referrals. It is expected the social workers will have a good understanding of current legislation and government policy related to care of the elderly and an understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and DoLS legislation. The Social workers also undertake regular safeguarding investigations under the Local Authority safeguarding procedures. The team is a large team consisting of 15 Social Workers and 15 Assessment and review workers. Good support structures are in place and regular supervision is provided by one of the three team managers or three assistant managers.

JOB PURPOSE:
Hold and manage a caseload including Children in Need, Child Protection and Looked After Children as allocated by the Team Manager or Assistant Team Manager. The post holder will do this by undertaking assessments, formulating, monitoring and managing plans for children with multi agency partners to ensure good, timely outcomes for children.

KNOWLEDGE:
Grade J:
• Knowledge of current good practice in child care.
• Knowledge of the principles of the Children Act 1989, the Children Act 2004, the Every Child Matters agenda and Care Planning Regulations 2010
Grade K:
• In addition to the skills and knowledge detailed above at Grade J.
• Knowledge of the judicial processes.
• Knowledge of theory and practice of care assessment, planning, child protection/safeguarding procedures; detailed knowledge of relevant legislation acquired through professional qualification in social work plus minimum 2 year post-qualification experience in relevant field.

EXPERIENCE:
Grade J :
• Some background experience in a social care or similar setting.
• Work placement in a child care setting (degree course).
Grade K :
• The eligibility criterion for progression beyond (Grade J) will be as above for Grade J plus 2 years relevant post-qualification experience in accordance with designated performance standards.
• Instances may occur where the post-qualification experience is not in a post specifically designated as Social Worker. In such cases the appropriate Service Manager must be satisfied as to the quality and relevance of that experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Practice Educator qualified. [Desirable]
Grade J:
• Fully qualified, accredited social work professional status (CQSW, DipSW, CSS, PQCCA)
• Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Job Description:
The post holder will provide high quality care and interventions to children and young people in a variety of settings including residential homes, emergency accommodation, family home and foster placements, which will contribute to the protection, safeguarding and promotion of the education, health and well-being of children and young people.
