Main Purpose of Post:
The Registered Manager will set the operational direction and oversee the effective running of the service provision to meet the statement of purpose and children and young people’s needs identified within care and support plans. Golwg y Bannau provides placements to meet the needs of children and young people with complex needs and learning disabilities.
Principal Responsibilities:
- To manage the provision in order to ensure that the needs and outcomes for children and young people with disabilities and complex needs are achieved. To carry out such other duties, appropriate to the post, as may reasonably be required.
- To oversee all aspects of the day to day running of the home. This will include ensuring staffing rotas are maintained and that adequate staffing levels are in place, taking account of staff sickness and annual leave commitments. To participate in rota working arrangements where applicable with overall responsibility for managing the rota system.
- To lead on the recruitment, induction and training of staff to ensure that a sufficient number of suitably qualified, trained, skilled, competent and experienced staff are deployed to work within the Care Home.
- To ensure staff are fully aware of the policies, practices and procedures of the children’s home and provide high quality supervision and training for all staff to enable ongoing learning and development.
- To manage the Care Home’s budget with prudence and in keeping with Powys policies and procedures.
- To ensure the Care Home operates in accordance with international and national best practice and in keeping with all relevant legislation and regulation including the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016. To keep up to date with new developments and legislation in childcare practice.
- To manage the behaviour of individual and groups of children and young people appropriately and within the guidelines laid down by the Care Inspectorate Wales.
- To ensure that all activities within the Home are carried out with due regard to health and safety requirements, undertaking risk assessments where appropriate and being responsible for the health, safety and welfare of all staff and young people.
- To actively promote, participate in and ensure the provision of high standards of physical care, hygiene, safety, and welfare of all young people. To ensure the provision of a warm accepting environment within the home whereby the emotional, social, educational, cultural, and spiritual needs of individual young people can be achieved, and in which teamwork amongst staff flourishes.
Registrations, Qualifications &Training:
⦁ To be registered with CIW as a Home Registered Manager or willing to register within specified time scale.

Key Tasks:

Tasks:
⦁ Develop and maintain a database in order to monitor the progress of all care proceedings and pre-proceedings in the department/area
⦁ Provide reports in relation to this information to assist the Local Authority to project demand for placements, therapeutic or other relevant services.
⦁ Ensure that all children who are the subject of care proceedings have been subject to the relevant permanence planning processes in order to determine the care plan.
⦁ Ensure that Social Workers have the resources they need in order to submit court reports on time and to a high standard.
⦁ Provide practical assistance to Social Workers to ensure that they can complete court work to a good standard.
⦁ Ensure that all work to be filed before the court has been through a QA process and that the views and feelings of the child are reflected and have been actively considered in drawing up the statement.

This is an opportunity for an Educational Psychologist to take up a 1 off piece of work. The role is flexible and is roughly 5 days’ work but can be completed in a longer timeframe if this suits the successful candidate. The initial assessment is to be completed in Harrogate, with the remainder of the work able to be completed from home. The assessment will be conducted for 2 adopted siblings with Autism and FASD.
Skills/Qualifications:
It is essential that applicants have a valid HCPC, and experience in Trauma and FASD. A preference would be that the successful candidate also have experience working with children who have been adopted, although this is not essential.
Candidates must be able to travel to Harrogate for the first 2 days to complete assessment, from this point onwards work can be completed remotely.
