We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive officer with experience of managing a busy and demanding diary for both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor and providing administrative support to the Mayoral Services Manager. Some knowledge of event management would be helpful. The Mayor’s office is a high profile environment, and although often busy and challenging, it is also rewarding.

The post is based within the Mayor’s Office, in the Old Palace.

The role has a high level of customer contact that includes face to face, telephone and email, and involves liaison with elected members and senior officers within the Council, other Mayors’ offices and the general public. The duties of this role include preparing the weekly Business Sheet, collating the appropriate documents and making the necessary travel arrangements. Supporting the various Civic and Charity events, including issuing invitations, recording acceptances etc.

We are looking for an Administrative Assistant who has experience in working in a busy office environment. Attention to detail and accuracy is key for this post. You will need to be highly organised, have good customer services skills, be proficient in using Microsoft Office package. Good written and oral communication skills and a good team player are important in order to be successful in this role.

⦁ interviewing/talking to parents to advise them on their response to the assessment and statement procedures, where necessary recording verbal statements and arranging for interpreters, translators or signers as required, making recommendations to the Named Officers about action that may be required or referring on more complex cases
⦁ negotiating with and clarifying to parents or schools their rights and responsibilities in respect of the various stages of the assessment and statementing procedure and educational placement

Main purpose of post
