Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary:
To fully understand and implement legislation including the Dogs (NI) Order 1983, the
Dangerous Dogs Order, the Litter Order (NI) 1994, The Street Trading Regulation Act, relevant Council By-laws and other relevant legislation in so far as it relates to the functions of the post.
To create, develop, deliver and review educational programmes and publicity materials in relation to all aspects of the functions of the post, aimed at schools, community groups and individual ratepayers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To ensure that the work falling within the Post-holders areas of responsibility is carried out to the agreed time and quality targets.
- To fully understand and implement all relevant legislation in so far as it relates to the functions of the post.
- To maintain records and compile reports on all relevant matters prevailing within the district, including monitoring the day to day conditions in the kennels, advising the Line Manager as required.
- To investigate and seek resolution to complaints and enquiries from the public, and other agencies, on all matters relating to the functions of the post.
- To patrol the district, including Council maintained beaches, on foot or in a vehicle for the purpose of deterring and/or detecting any breaches of the relevant legislation.
- To inspect breeding establishments and guard-dog kennels, making recommendations for initial registration and annual retention of registration.
- To supervise monthly and special markets, including the on-site allocation of non pre-booked trading pitches, the collection of fees, the issuing of receipts and the lodgement of ‘pitch’ monies collected from traders.
- To lift stray/unwanted/injured dogs and impound same at kennels used by Council.
- To liaise with a veterinary clinic and authorise any emergency only pain relief treatment for any injured stray dogs.

Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary:
The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of the Council’s Vehicle Maintenance Workshop, to ensure the workshop runs effectively and efficiently.
This a management role and will include responsibility for arranging, supervising and controlling quality and productivity of all work either contracted out or carried out by Council Staff on the Council’s Vehicles, Plant and Equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
General Management:
⦁ Lead, organise, supervise and motivate staff to meet and deliver required objectives and maintain a supportive management culture throughout the Vehicle Maintenance service.

⦁ Provide advice and hands on assistance on all vehicle, plant and equipment maintenance matters including plating and testing, construction and use, driver/operator safety, vehicle legislation, vehicle specification and design and any other vehicle related issues.
⦁ Implement controls to monitor efficiency and performance to ensure that the level of work undertaken in-house, contracted out or carried out under warranty is to a high standard which satisfies best practice, VOSA/TRU requirements, manufacturer’s recommendations and all other legal requirements and regulations applicable.
⦁ Establish and maintain effective operational procedures to assist the workshop in achieving its aims efficiently, which includes reviewing the standard operating procedures of the unit and making recommendations for improvements to the Line Manager.
⦁ Provide a safe working environment for all employees, visitors, contractors and subcontractors, by managing and monitoring all activities within the workshop to ensure they are carried out in line with Health and Safety Regulations, the Council’s policies and procedures and best practice.
⦁ Review the stockholdings of parts and materials for vehicles and plant equipment, to ensure a constant supply of necessary parts and be responsible for the placing of orders and the certifying of supplier invoices, in line with Council procedure for non-stocked goods and services.
⦁ Implement, manage and develop information systems as required in line with the Section’s requirements and evolving needs.
⦁ Responsible for the production and presentation of schedules, reports and other data as required, in line with deadlines.

The Health Improvement Worker will champion key health improvement priorities between local government and the health sector, identified by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council (NMDDC) and the Public Health Agency (PHA). This will be achieved by developing and delivering on an action plan to improve the health outcomes for marginalised, disadvantaged and excluded individuals and communities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as a champion for addressing health and wellbeing inequalities within Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
- Develop, manage, coordinate and review Health Improvement Plans and offer ongoing support and assistance to ensure that objectives/targets are met.
- Develop an Action Plan to tackle health and wellbeing inequalities which will contribute to the Council’s Community Plan.
- Carry out research and analysis and report on same to Line Management regarding policy development, reports, relevant legislation, policy papers and other consultation documents in line with area of work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
