You will be required to work to a high standard and delivery excellent customer service, you will need to plan and manage your workload to ensure that jobs are attended and completed within timescales and are completed right first time, reducing the need for any further follow up visits.
Identification of the work required to resolve the problem, deciding the parts and general materials needed ensuring correct parts are used. For example, so as not to compromise the fire rating, integrity and security of doors. Measure and order appropriate stock for each job.
Attend jobs as scheduled and within timescales. Identify materials required for the repair and ensure these are collected / ordered in advance of attending jobs.

First Fix Carpentry, which includes: floor joists, timber framed stud walls, ceilings, timber flooring.
Second Fix Carpentry, door frames, doors, fitting of ironmongery, skirting, stairs/newel post replacement/handrail and spindles.
Kitchen fitting (first and second fix). To include first fix plumbing, including renewing pipework. Second fix plumbing to include fitting taps and waste.
Ability to undertake repairs as required such as masonry / plastering / patch repairs to wall finishes, tiling and painting (desirable).
Ensure repairs are carried out to the letting standard and signpost tenants to their tenancy agreement or Somerset Council website for landlord / tenant repair responsibilities.
Carry out tasks and projects with minimal support / guidance, whilst taking accountability for quality and quantity of work.

- Carry out all accountabilities in compliance with the Council’s Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain accurate and effective communication with your line manager (to include the provision of reports and presentations) ensuring that they are regularly appraised of planned changes and developments
- To work as part of a project team and to assist in the delivery and completion of work projects, supporting different work streams, ensuring the successful completion of the project.

We are looking for a Principal Social Worker which will focus on Court Work.
You will be a case holding social worker working with approximately 10/11 children (4/5 families) who are subject to care proceedings. You will be responsible for all aspects of the case management including statutory visiting, care planning and review, and court.
You will work with children and their families to assist in decision making for Children to remain at home or return home to their parents. Assessments will need to consider the current risks and associated protective factors whilst also identifying the likelihood of sustained change within the child’s timescales.
You will have experience of working with children subject to care proceedings and their families and produce work of an excellent standard which provides recommendations based upon sound evidence based analysis.
You will have undertaken assessments using the DOH Framework of assessment and have knowledge and understanding of the principals of the NSPCC Reunification framework. You will understand the impact of trauma both on parents’ capacity and on the child’s needs and be able to ascertain if the parent(s) has capacity to meet the needs of the individual child. You will require the skills to overcome barriers to engagement during the assessment process and tailor your assessments to the learning styles of parents.
Your assessments will draw upon the knowledge of other professionals working with the child and their family and exploring the informal support networks available to the parents to assist them in the parenting role.

Job Summary
Supporting the Payroll Supervisor, undertake and be responsible for the efficient, accurate and

Key Tasks

To provide technical professional enforcement services with the overall aim of protecting and improving the health, safety and welfare of every resident, worker and visitor within the Borough.
To undertake their duties in the Private Sector Housing Enforcement Team, but will need to operate flexibly and changes in priorities may involve the post holder being employed in any of the above areas or Regulatory Services.
The role will have a focus on prevention of homelessness in the private rented sector through effective joint working with the Housing Options Service within Barnet Homes.
Professional Membership/Qualification
Successful completion (or imminent completion) of an Environmental Health degree or postgraduate MSc course, accredited by the CIEH in Environmental Health (Housing Enforcement Officer)
Or
Demonstrable professional experience in the relevant specialism
HHSRS qualification
Experience & Knowledge
Existing technical knowledge of Housing Regulatory Services or the ability to develop technical knowledge.
Experience of taking enforcement action.
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills and able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with a wide range of contacts and to deal with difficult or complex issues
Ability to accurately draft legal documents
