Purpose

The rate for this role is fixed at £38 per hour which is non-negotiable.
Key Criteria:
• Candidates must be able to start within the next two weeks (as of 18/02/2022).
• To be considered for this role, candidates must have at least 3 years frontline/safeguarding experience.
There are no management responsibilities in this role.

Caseloads:
We have a caseload promise of 18 children but we are in the process of revising that to 8-9 families per social worker. At times that may mean that social workers will have fewer than 18 children or slightly more depending on the size of the family.
Flexible Working:
Social workers are expected to undertake face to face visits to families. All social workers work in the office on a rota basis with their teams.

Expenses:
Locums are able to claim back mileage from their place of work to visits (this does not include travel from home to work). The service also have work oyster cards that can be provided
Referrals meeting the threshold for an assessment will be passed through to the Referral and Assessment Service by the MASH Team. These cases relate to children between the ages of 0-17.
The referrals can be:
• Child Protection – children who have suffered significant harm, or are at risk of suffering significant harm. Investigations and assessments of these children are usually conducted on a joint basis with the Police Child Abuse and Investigation Team (CAIT)
• Children in Need – children whose needs cannot be met through the CAF (Common Assessment Framework) and TAC (Team Around the Child) process or ones with a range of complex needs
• The initial stages of new Looked After episodes for a child or young person
• Families presenting as having No Recourse to Public Funds. Assessments are completed, through direct work with children and families plus appropriate professionals, to identify needs/risks and develop plans to meet these as appropriate. Case responsibility is then transferred to the appropriate teams within Social Care


KNOWLEDGE
Comprehensive knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation, regulations and guidance such as national assessment framework.

Knowledge of the range of services which are available to children and families and of the organisational framework within which they are provided.

Knowledge of child development and of family functioning and dynamics.

Knowledge of methods of social work intervention.

EXPERIENCE
Appropriate and relevant post-qualification experience of children and families social work within a statutory, voluntary or independent sector organisation.

Participation Officers work with vulnerable children and their families and schools. The service delivers support and challenge to schools and parents around attendance and punctuality, at both a strategic and case work management level. They provide challenge to schools on policy and practice including challenging poor practice to ensure legislative requirements are met. They provide advice to or lead within professional networks to identify contributing factors and plan interventions to address poor attendance.

Poor attendance can be an indicator for higher need families with complex and multiple difficulties involved in or at risk of being involved in crime, antisocial behaviour, disengagement with education and risk of homelessness or edge of care. The Penalty Notice Officer must be able to weigh up evidence from a variety of sources, determine levels of risk, and determine the most appropriate level at which to intervene.

The Penalty Notice Officer is responsible for ensuring that the preparation of legal cases is clearly evidenced and that pursuing legal proceedings is an efficient use of the council’s resources.

The role requires partnership working across the local authority, schools, alternative provision providers and other relevant agencies assisting in their duties to fulfil statutory responsibilities to safeguard pupils and ensure regular attendance in school.

The officer will oversee and coordinate the legal and statutory processes for irregular attendance under S444 Education Act 1996, liaising with Legal Services about court cases for non-attendance, to issue penalty notices and co-ordinate truancy patrols.

The role requires strong administrative skills.

Purpose
To provide personal care to clients living in extra-care accommodation and/or in the wider community in accordance with individual care plans and the A2Dominion Group philosophy of care.
Key responsibilities / deliverables
In accordance with individual care plans, provide clients with physical support which may include household and domestic tasks, shopping, food preparation, personal hygiene and self-care.
Administer medication in accordance with individual care plans, the Medication Policy and relevant training.
Provide emotional support in a sensitive and empathetic manner, offering guidance in accordance with procedures and the boundaries of the job role.
Provide support to enable tenants to maintain independence with daily living and participate in tasks and activities inside and outside their home, and to access services appropriate to their abilities.
Respond to calls received through the emergency alarm system, or by telephone from the call centre and take appropriate follow up action.
Report to the line manager concerns regarding safeguarding issues or significant changes in the health and social circumstances of a client, contributing to specific care needs as directed.
Record relevant information on contact sheets at each visit in accordance with procedures and maintain all other relevant records.
To attend team meetings, training, and appraisal and supervision meetings as requested.
Support the induction and training of new and existing employees as requested.
To understand and comply with the Group’s health and safety policies and procedures at all times including (but not limited to): Personal Safety, Emergency Procedures, Manual Handling and use of aids and equipment.

Night workers responsibilities – in addition to the above responsibilities night workers who have elected to take part in sleeping or waking nights are required to carry out the following:

Sleeping nights
To be present on site, and respond to calls received through the emergency alarm system, or by telephone from the call centre and take appropriate follow up action. Care workers to ensure that they follow lone working procedures.
Waking nights
To be on site, and lone-work to provide a response to calls received through the emergency alarm system, or by telephone from the call centre and take appropriate follow up action.
To conduct scheduled care calls as per the rota.
To Lone work and to ensure the security of the building, e.g. check that doors and windows in communal areas are secure.
To ensue all lone working procedures are followed

Knowledge, skills and competencies

Qualifications / training:
Good standard of Maths and English
RCF Level 2 In Health & Social Care or equivalent (or willing to study towards)
Evidence of training covering; health & safety; fire safety; first aid; manual handling; food hygiene and infection control; medication; safeguarding; personal care
Knowledge / Skills:
Previous employment or personal experience of providing care and/ or support to others.

Connected Communities is a new interim prevention and early intervention service in which the principle aim is to support Haringey residents with low level complex needs that do not meet statutory thresholds. The service supports people by providing access to a multidisciplinary team of professionals as part of an early intervention strategy of support.

The service offer, in addition to positively affecting outcomes is designed to go some way to reduce demand into more costly statutory services and is aligned to Haringey’s Borough Plan. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
