The role
Reporting to Environmental Services and Transport Manager you will be expected to deliver a 
consistently high-quality bulk and void property clearance services. You will be provided with 
tools and machinery to help you undertake your tasks and we will supply you with a new

The location

What you’ll be doing:
• In accordance with our schedules, frequencies, and standards, to drive to our estates and 
collect non-domestic refuse in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner.
• When requested, to attend to void properties and clear these. 
• Carry out collections in a neat and tidy manner ensuring spillages are cleaned up whilst you 
are onsite.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment by working in line with our health and safety 
standards.
• Working proactively with customers, manging expectations, to ensure that they can have a 
positive view of their environment and landlord offering basic advice when requested.
• Proactively supporting team members to deliver seamless services in line with the 
Corporate Strategy
• Keeping a record of what is collected and from where so that your services can be 
recharged accurately and transparently to residents. 
• Noting hotspot refuse typing areas and working with the team on a strategy to reduce the 
waste. 
• Assist the team when needed with other tasks such as jet washing bin stores 
• Report any repairs or defects in communal areas to maintenance department/ line manager 
and follow up actions as required i.e. monitoring the issue ensuring that action is taken to

  1. 7. Use and/or manipulate reporting and recording systems to provide senior officers with management/performance information, identify areas of concern and make recommendations/referrals.

8. Maintain a working knowledge of relevant SCC policies, standards and procedures and advise Managers of changes or breaches which require action. Understand and apply relevant systems regulations/processes.

9. Use standard and bespoke IT systems and applications, e.g. SAP, C365, Open Housing Outlook, Excel, Word and Teams.  Identify training needs and recommend appropriate solutions.

10. This in turn enables the Head of Service - Audit & Technical to provide assurance to the Council�s Governance and Audit Committee and Senior Leadership Team on the adequacy of the Council�s control environment.To fulfil the above by reviewing and evaluating:the effectiveness, adequacy and application of internal controls;the extent to which the Council�s assets and interests are accounted for and safeguarded from losses of all kinds; andthe suitability and reliability of financial and other management information used within the authority.To use experience, initiative and professional judgement when undertaking all internal audit work, including investigations as necessary.To supervise and mentor internal auditors.To comply with the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards (PSIAS).  DIMENSIONSThe post holder must be qualified and hold both the:Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification or equivalent.Practitioner in the Institute of Internal Auditors (PIIA)/Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification or equivalent. The post holder should have experience in a Local Government internal audit environment.The post holder will have responsibility for:Directly supervising, mentoring and training internal auditors, both in an office environment and remotely due to agile working. Co-ordinating and prioritising the work of the internal auditors in order to achieve the internal audit plan.Deputising in the absence of Audit Leads  All income, expenditure, staffing, policies, procedures, property and other resources of the Council are subject to examination by Internal Audit.EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONPart-qualified CIPFA (diploma level) or equivalent CCAB.orHolding one of the following Professional Qualification: AAT, IIA or QICA.andProven experience of being an Auditor within the Public Sector.To achieve all of level 3 skills competencies (per CIPFA �Audit Skills Matrix�) and be working towards achievement of the relevant level 4 skill competencies,Use of ICT hardware and software to carry out audits, including relevant systems for data matching purposes.Evidence of developing and maintaining good working relationships.Evidence of being able to deliver the audit plan and special audit investigations to planned timescales.   SKILLS AND ABILITIESAccuracy and attention to detail and the ability to organise work using a flexible approach in order to meet deadlines.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Evidence of excellent persuasion skills to varying levels of managers to gain acceptance of recommendations.Ability to analyse and evaluate issues, form an independent and objective position, with some thought of originality, having an enquiring mind and not accepting unsatisfactory situations or responses.To maintain confidentiality.Car driver.
