Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Drive vehicles in accordance with licence requirements and the provisions of the Highway Code.
  2. Complete driver log and any other records required by management.
  3. Check vehicle and related plant items daily before leaving the depot completing a nil defect report, i.e. oil, water, fuel, lights, tyres, brakes and other requirements including power mechanisms. Completing low level repairs such as bulb replacements.
  4. Report all vehicle defects to the Refuse and Workshop Managers via the relevant sheet.
  5. Manage and utilise the vehicle on board computer system (Bartec) to provide a single point of contact for information management relating to collection schedules, assisted collections and logging of missed/damaged bins.
  6. Drive vehicle to the approved tip or refuse disposal location and discharge the load as directed.
  7. Complete Drivers Hours weekly log/book.
  8. Return vehicle to Depot on completion of day's work and park.
  9. Cleanse vehicle daily.
  10. Responsible for ensuring that loads are kept within legal limits.
  11. Fill vehicle with adequate fuel at the end of the working day.
  12. Supervise and be responsible for the health and safety of the team members ensuring that working practices are undertaken in accordance with the council’s procedures.
  13. Collect sharps reported to team by the public as per training provided. Report all incidents to the Refuse Manager, complete paperwork and dispose of needles through the stores function.
  14. Keep appropriate records of streets and premises where bins are not collected due to not being out, contamination, wrong bin out, overfilled (lid up), heavy, access problems, defective or damaged bins or any other problems using the Bartec IT system.
  15. When agency workers are assigned to teams provide additional supervision until they are familiar with the round/s.
  16. Give loading staff occasional assistance with loading heavy bins.
  17. Help and assist team members in the safe loading of bulk bins (1100 litre wheeled bins) where the team is a driver and one loader.
  18. As required undertake other duties, either in the Refuse or Street Cleansing Sections to provide cover for which training will be provided.
  19. Communicate with the public with regards to the Council’s recycling policies and procedures as and when applicable.
  20. Promptly collect spilled refuse where bins are being emptied, preventing littering and road hazards.
  21. Check the team allocated are all present, have the necessary personal protective equipment and receive necessary instructions.
  22. Report to the Refuse Manager on the progress of the day's work.
  23. Liaise with the Refuse Manager with regards to training requirements for operatives.

We are looking to appoint a dynamic practitioner who has experience of working with vulnerable young people preferably in an education setting. We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate experience of working across the age range 2-18 and preferably have knowledge of working with Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children, those with Special Educational Needs, Children Missing from Education or those who are NEET. You will be in charge of a caseload of approximately 35 young people in the care of Hillingdon Local Authority and your job will be to ensure they have the support to overcome barriers to their learning so they achieve their full potential.

In doing so, you will liaise closely with and support foster carers and residential home key workers, social workers, personal advisors and designated teachers/student support services in schools and colleges.

The successful candidate will have good knowledge of the English education system, including assessment across the Key Stages and post 16 pathways.
We are seeking someone who is passionate about enabling Looked After Children and Care Leavers to progress educationally in line with their non-looked after peers.
Our ideal person sticks to deadlines, thinks on their feet, is hardworking, supportive of staff and the team around the child, approachable and friendly. They will be excellent at managing a very busy schedule, organised and pro-active, especially in setting up enrichment activities for our young people. In relation to this role there may be occasional evening and weekend work and there is a need to travel depending on the location of the young people on your caseload.

ROLE PURPOSE:
To work closely with the Hillingdon Virtual School team and Headteacher to:

  • Raise the attainment of Looked After Children and Care Leavers via a focus on admissions, attendance, attainment, progress, tuition, enrichment and promoting inclusion
  • Hold a caseload of Looked After Children (placed in and out of borough) as decided by the Virtual School Headteacher
  • Track the attainment and progress of all Looked After Children (from Nursery to age 18) on their caseload
  • Raise the attainment of Looked After Children by chairing and producing high quality, timely Personal Education Plans (PEPs) and monitoring the progress and outcomes of PEP targets.
  • Promote a multiagency approach to working with Looked After Children and Care Leavers, particularly in regards to their education
  • Advise and support Care Leavers still in education, employment or training, as required
  • Contribute to the provision of enrichment and extra-curricular learning activities for Looked After Children and Care Leavers
  • Pro-actively develop and maintain effective working relationships with other agencies to ensure joined up services for Looked After Children and Care Leavers

The person will:
? Undertake detailed technical approval of highway works submitted for future adoption under

  6. Drafting particulars of claim, statements of case and information as required. 
  7. The preparation of cases for presentation in civil and criminal courts and at public inquiries/tribunals. Advising as appropriate so as to ensure that the Councils case is capable of being effectively presented. 
  8. Acting as advocate in cases in the Magistrates Court, County Court, High Court and at public inquiries and tribunals as directed. 
  9. Defending legal proceedings brought against the Council as required including judicial review, statutory appeals or other legal challenges. 
  10. Assist in the supervision and training of legal and other staff as appropriate in order to achieve productive and motivated staff and to secure the best use of available resources. This includes preparing and delivering training courses for clients and other team members. 
  11. Securing the recovery of costs where the Council is successful in complex litigation, which may involve detailed assessments.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
· Experience of working within the Azure environment.
· Advanced knowledge of C#, ASP.NET and ASP.NET MVC 5
· Front end development experience using technologies, frameworks and methodologies including HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, CSS and Bootstrap
· Experience of data driven development using MS SQL Server, T-SQL, Entity Framework
· Understanding of RESTful and web services, including knowledge of frameworks including ASP.NET Web API 2 and WCF

Desirable
· Knowledge and experience of:
o ASP.NET Core 2.x
o DevOps, CI/CD.
o Front-end tooling including npm, gulp.js, SASS, linting.
o Working with Microsoft 365 products, e.g. SharePoint online, Teams etc…
· Understanding of responsive design.
· Familiar with accessibility guidelines (WCAG).
· SharePoint 2016 experience.
· Knowledge of Umbraco, Java, Oracle Cloud or GIS.
