Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of statutory and voluntary services in supporting families
A sound knowledge and application of Safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults
A good knowledge and understanding of child development and the needs of children
Significant knowledge and understanding of issues affecting children/young people and their families, particularly the impact of social and economic disadvantage and multiple disadvantages on motivation, culture, confidence and progression through education employment and training.

Hours Per Week : 10.00
Start Date : Immediate Start
Start Time : 07:00
End Time : 10:00

Passenger Assistants (PA) accompany children and young adults, usually with additional needs (medical/behavioural), who require transport to and from school/college. There are currently approximately 800 students aged between 4-25 accessing Home to School transport which will be in either a Minibus or a Taxi. You will be providing cover for PAs who are unable to work and therefore cover maybe required during the hours of 07.00-10.00 and 14.00-17.00 Monday to Friday. We may also need to contact you during the day to arrange future cover which maybe last minute. Sometimes this is short term cover for half a day, sometimes it can be longer. It is a rewarding job with lots of variety. You’ll meet lots of students with differing needs and gain great experience whilst accompanying students into Schools across Plymouth and into Devon and Cornwall. You are paid for the time you work and will be given one day of ‘classroom’ training before accompanying a PA on a route. Candidates should live in the Plymouth City Council Area. Please be aware these are variable hours as you will be placed on a relief register to cover PAs as and when required.
