Pay rate : £38. We are bound by the MoC, which means pay rates are capped. Whist we are able to pay up to £42, this rate is for those deemed to be at ASW level. Duty: The team are on duty two days a month. The social worker is expected to be in the office for duty days.
The candidate will be needed to undertake court work as part of the role requirement. In the children we care for service there is the opportunity to build relationships with children and young people over a period of time in order to help them settle, make sense and recover from their experiences and look forward to their future. In our service there is an emphasis on the importance of direct work and developing and exercising these skills.
The candidate needs:
- To be an experienced Social worker with at least 2/3 years experience in a related team
- Recent Front line – child protection work
- Good assessment skills that are able to identify risk – Direct work with children to be able to identify their needs
- Good multi agency working experience
Caseloads are about 18 children Social Workers will always have supervision every four weeks. Plus ad hoc as managers are very available to support colleagues.

Qualifications and/or experience:
• A recognised Social Work qualification e.g. Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent as recognised by the relevant professional body.
• Registration with the relevant professional registration body and maintaining registration with that body.
• Knowledge of theoretical Social Work concepts and practices, with demonstrable examples of dealing with complex issues, for example, attachment, impact of developmental trauma and child development.
• Experience of effectively coaching and supervising others, acting as practice role model and promoting exemplary practice.
• Experience of managing levels of risk within a caseload.

Responsible for carrying out comprehensive assessments within the community for people in interim accommodation.

Service management
- Experience of carrying out effective OT assessments for disabled people and carers including clients with a wide range of needs within a diverse inner-city community.
- Experience of working in partnership with disabled people and their carers to facilitate optimum levels of independence by making appropriate recommendations for OT interventions (including moving and handling) and reviewing the impact of these to ensure they are effective.
- Experience of working in partnership with other service providers and producing plans, design guidelines and drawings under supervision, for a wide range of adaptations to ensure a high quality and cohesive service is provided for disabled people.
- Experience of using monitoring systems effectively to record and store service and performance data.
- Experience of creating work plans, supervising and appraising staff, managing performance, motivating, encouraging and developing people.
Communication skills
- Able to communicate effectively, confidently and assertively whether in writing or when speaking. This will also involve presenting complex information sensitively and matched to the needs of the audience and in line with organisational policy and practice.

PURPOSE OF POST:
Support the Team Manager to provide high quality of Social Work practice to vulnerable/at risk disabled children and families and ensure effective practice management.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carry a caseload of complex cases requiring a high level of professional skill, providing assessment, care management and other social work services relevant to the needs of the most vulnerable/at risk children and families. Provide intense direct work with Children with Learning Difficulties.
Under the direction of the Team Manager, using professional skills and experience to provide practice management to team members to ensure compliance with national and departmental policies, procedures and quality standards.
Undertake research, training and development activities as required for the department and for the post holders’ own professional development.
When agreed by Team Manager and in co-operation with the Training Section, undertake specific tasks to support and enable team members in the development of skill and the acquisition of knowledge and information relevant to the team tasks or to the professional development of team members.
As and when agreed by the Team Manager, undertake the role of practice teacher for students undergoing professional training who are on placement in the Department.
In consultation with the Team Manager and with other Team Managers who will assume Management responsibility for the Team, provide cover for some day to day duties during periods of annual leave or other absences of the Team Manager.
Experience
Substantial post qualifying experience including some in-depth experience in the field of child and family social work
Some experience of coaching/mentoring including practice teaching. Some experience working with children with learning difficulties and Mental health conditions
