Job description –
You will be working closely with senior managers who are responsible for delivering social care services to a range of adult customers across West Sussex.
The work will be fast paced and varied, with unpredictable demands. You will be exposed to confidential and highly sensitive information and will be expected to work within relevant legislative and policy frameworks.
The work environment is friendly and supportive and the post holder will be a valued and integral part of the team, as they deliver services to the vulnerable customers and implement improvement programmes.
What you’ll need to succeed
You’ll need to be able to work independently, confidently, flexibly and in close partnership with others, both externally and in the Directorate and wider organisation. You’ll need to be able to balance priorities and deadlines as well as responding to / redirecting enquiries, using your initiative to deal with unexpected problems and situations.
You’ll need excellent Word and Excel skills, and the ability to concentrate over long periods of time to take accurate and comprehensive notes during meetings on complex and sensitive subjects.
You’ll need to be able to travel independently around the county to attend meetings. You must be willing to work as part of a team and have a good sense of humour.

Environmental Health Officer working in a busy team doing environmental protection work, primarily statutory nuisance investigations and public health. This is hybrid working, Monday to Friday, flexible working hours to be discussed during interview.

JOB PURPOSE

To effectively carry out the responsibilities of either the Commercial or Residential Team, delivering statutory and non-statutory functions including in the Commercial Team food safety, workplace health and safety, private water supplies, infectious disease control, animal welfare licensing and the regulation of cosmetic treatments; and in the Residential Team environmental protection, statutory and public nuisance, public health, private sector housing, housing assistance, contaminated land, air quality, environmental permitting and the regulation including licensing of caravan sites.

Carry out legal investigations including taking statements, gathering evidence and preparing investigation reports/case files; provide recommendations in respect of legal action to the Commercial or Residential Team Leader or Environmental Health Manager in accordance with relevant legislation, guidance and the Directorate Enforcement Policies. Attend and give evidence in court proceedings.
  6. Supervise and contribute to the development of Technical and other officers where appropriate and contribute to and assist with the implementation of officer development programmes and the identification of training needs.
  7. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and ensure an effective response to public demand and ensure that good public relations are maintained including attending public and other meetings and events to promote the Service where appropriate.
  8. Co-operate in the management of the Service to develop and implement service and operational work plans and other policies and procedures as appropriate.
  9. Participate in the overall provision of services by contributing to the various communication and ICT systems within the Council; and carry out administrative duties commensurate with the post and ensure that accurate records are maintained compliant with legal standards including the submission or assisting with the submission of statutory returns to the relevant Government agencies and responding to requests for information held by the Service where appropriate.

JOB PURPOSE: The core focus of the Occupational Therapist role is to maximise the independence and safety of vulnerable people in North Yorkshire who have social care needs. The post holder will do this by undertaking assessments with vulnerable people using the Directorate’s procedures. The post holder will support people and carers who have been assessed as being in need through the provision of advice, support, equipment and adaptations to develop appropriate support plans to meet their preferred outcomes within specified resources.

Where this post is based within the reablement service the main foucs of the role would be to provide therapy support to Short Term Assessment & Reablement Teams (START Teams) in the delivery of short term reablement interventions.
Knowledge
⦁ Knowledge and understanding of the impact of physical and sensory impairments and learning disability on independence and activities of daily living for all age groups.
⦁ Understanding and application of the social model of disability.
⦁ Knowledge and understanding of how Equality & Diversity, Dignity & Respect and Human Rights apply to this role.
⦁ Wide knowledge base of disability equipment and its application.
⦁ Theoretical and applied medical, surgical, sociological, psychological and psychiatric knowledge.
⦁ Knowledge of the basic framework of community care legislation and regulations.

Experience

Qualifications
