Swindon Borough Council currently require Experienced Social Workers within the Family Safeguarding Service. The team work within pods to optimise the management, oversight and support to all Social Workers. There are 5 Social Workers and 1 Manager per POD. 

Social Workers must have with experience and skill to: 

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments including parenting assessments in a timely way to inform development of outcome focused care plans with Children and their Families.
  • Undertake care proceedings within the court, both private and public.
  • Initiate and complete within court timescales and achieve permanency plans for children including adoption.
  • Understand and respond to complexity of risks and are required to evidence on records, including providing analysis of their interventions with children and families. 

We also have a specific number of vacancies to work specifically with Children in Need to progress their Child in Need plans working closely with our adult practitioners within the family safeguarding model to improve outcomes for our children.

Ensure all aspects of a quality business support service is provided to Waste & Street Services officers � office based and front line.7. Work closely with the other Business and Technical team members to help optimise service systems.8. Process review and improvement.9. Management of the information management processes used within the service ensuring they are line with the modernisation objectives of MCC and also comply with GDPR.10. GIS mapping support.11. Design and production of resources and communication materials to meet service needs � ie: crew stickers, service information leaflets, letters etc.12. To perform the role of Agresso requisitioner for goods/services required by the services.13. Monitoring the supply of the goods and goods receipting14. Supplier list maintenance on agresso � informing Agresso teams of creation of new suppliers and removal of old and ensuring that they are placed against the right product code.15. Assist managers with budget management where necessary � expenditure, garden waste income, management of supplementary parks - monitoring and closing orders, year end.16. Manage bad debt for the department including chasing and monitoring.17. Monitor and manage/co-ordinate the service emails/MCS system and social media communication channels.18. Ensure website information is always accurate and up to date.19. Manage the department�s training records.20. Order and issue replacement mobile phones (ensuring relevant line management approval)21. To provide payroll support for Supervisors/staff. This includes:
  • Calculating timesheetsInputting directly into ResourcelinkSickness and mileage onto My View (and highlighting to managers any sickness issues)In time, with the handhelds and introduction of IT, this should evolve into a more supportive role
  • 22. Recruitment support - Set up new starters/termination forms via e-forms and Employee Services.23. To review and update leave entitlements for staff.24. Production of leave/holiday forms.25.     Team Manager or relevant management experience in sector, including PQ Award or equivalent or the commitment to gain the PQ Award within an agreed timeframe

    The role
    Reporting to Environmental Services and Transport Manager you will be expected to deliver a 
    consistently high-quality bulk and void property clearance services. You will be provided with 
    tools and machinery to help you undertake your tasks and we will supply you with a new 
    uniform, safety boots and personal protective equipment. You will need to have the ability to 
    work outside in all weathers and be able to undertake physically demanding work. 
    The location
    You will be based at one of our office locations.
    What you’ll be doing:
    • In accordance with our schedules, frequencies, and standards, to drive to our estates and 
    collect non-domestic refuse in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner.
    • When requested, to attend to void properties and clear these. 
    • Carry out collections in a neat and tidy manner ensuring spillages are cleaned up whilst you 
    are onsite.
    • Maintain a safe and secure environment by working in line with our health and safety 
    standards.
    • Working proactively with customers, manging expectations, to ensure that they can have a 
    positive view of their environment and landlord offering basic advice when requested.
    • Proactively supporting team members to deliver seamless services in line with the 
    Corporate Strategy
    • Keeping a record of what is collected and from where so that your services can be 
    recharged accurately and transparently to residents. 
    • Noting hotspot refuse typing areas and working with the team on a strategy to reduce the 
    waste. 
    • Assist the team when needed with other tasks such as jet washing bin stores 
    • Report any repairs or defects in communal areas to maintenance department/ line manager 
    and follow up actions as required i.e. monitoring the issue ensuring that action is taken to 
    complete the repair within our stated timescales; where this is not the case escalate the 
    matter to your line manager
