Role purpose and role dimensions:
Overview of the job
To assist the Redbridge Council and North East London Foundation Trust fulfil its duties and responsibilities in relation to The Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberties, Safeguarding and all other appropriate legislation.

Fundamental to fulfilling the responsibilities of this post is the ability to respond flexibly, positively and successfully to the ever-changing pressures which an integrated Health and Social Care service will face. This Job Description is a guide to the level and range of responsibilities the post holder will be expected to undertake initially. It is neither exhaustive nor inclusive and may be subject to changes in order to meet legislative requirements changing circumstances and business demands of the service.

The primary purpose of this role is to:
Support the manager, team and service by providing professional leadership within an integrated service.
Deputise for the team manager as required.
Assist with overall responsibility within the team for assessment, care/support planning and review of people with a range of needs and their carers, working within a multi-disciplinary framework.
Undertake the legal and statutory duties of the post as required by the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act and any other relevant legislation.
Provides expert guidance on statutory duties, prepares court reports and attends court and court of protection hearings in order to provide expert evidence when necessary.
Provide expert advice and guidance within the team, specifically in relation to social care issues, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
Provide and develop specific specialist knowledge relevant to your professional role.
Ensure people receive the required health and social care support within the community, prevent hospital admission and pro-actively work with the principles of admission avoidance.
Support people to maintain their independence within their home and the community by ensuring an asset based approach is used within assessments and support planning
To lead, support and work collaboratively with health colleagues to ensure people are discharged from hospital within agreed timeframes and with appropriate support mechanisms in place.
Proactively adhere to promoting and implementing social care and NELFT policy and procedure.

Minimum
education/ qualifications
Professional Social Work, qualification as recognised by the HCPC
Current HCPC registration
Recent post qualification study
Evidence of CPD
Best Interest Assessor award – or willingness to train to gain the qualification
Approved Mental Health Professional award – (specialist teams)
3 years post qualifying experience in health and/or social care setting

THIS IS A REQUEST FOR IFD SOCIAL WORKER - out of hours
The SW role in the Integrated Front Door is responsible for providing a consistent and timely response to new safeguarding concerns out of hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and is essential to service delivery.
The SW will be a part of a seven-week rolling rota across day times, evenings and weekends providing the opportunity for them to gain the experience in both our Multi Agency Safeguarding Team and Emergency Duty Service.

Typical shifts can vary between:

  • week day evening 4pm - midnight
  • weekends 12 hour shifts (9-9pm, 10-10pm or 12-12am)
  • MASH Monday - Friday 8.45am - 17.20pm
    There will be a mix of working from home and office working, as well as emergency visits to families across the county.

The role lends itself to working with daytime services and area teams to provide a consistent approach and puts you at the front line of delivery in Wiltshire!
It is different in that it allows for direct contact with children, without being case holding. Much of your time will be spent on the telephone, with emergency visits as needed.

About the team and about you
There are a number of roles and responsibilities within the IFD which comprise of different specialisms. The Early Support workers come with a background of experience in early help and knowledge of local services. Information Officers are the first point of contact, and have excellent communication skills, providing information, signposting and support to people accessing the IFD.
Integrated responsibilities in the service offers opportunities to work across the MASH and OOH’s teams. Whilst the work can be demanding, this offers Social Workers and Managers the opportunity to undertake direct and front facing work with children, young people, families and carers, without the responsibility of managing a caseload. This is well balanced with opportunities to utilise their analytical and risk assessment skills by completing MASH assessments.   1. To work within an integrated discharge team to facilitate safe and timely discharge of adults from hospital.

Fostering Team requirement for 2 x Advanced Social Workers within Mainstream Fostering / Connected Carer team.
Rate is non negotiable and is set by regional agency pay arrangements.
This role is formally based at Badminton Road, BS37 5AF - however at present most workers are working from home, diary managing for visits and any on site required work, therefore workers must be able to operate in the South Glos region. Expenses less normal commuting mileage are claimable, no accommodation allowances are supplied. About the role
Working in a team in either Access and Response Team, Social Care Long Term, or Corporate Parenting, under the supervision of the Team Manager, the post holder will be a key member of an integrated child care team delivering a high quality service to vulnerable children in need, children who are looked after and placed in public care and children who need safeguarding.
The post holder will hold a child care case-load particularly focussed upon those cases where complex and sensitive issues are at stake which require a service response from an experienced, knowledgeable and skilled social work practitioner.
Working in a multi-agency context, the post holder will ensure vulnerable children and young people are identified, protected and supported to achieve positive outcomes through the provision of well planned, integrated and coordinated services. This will include organising, chairing and participating in meetings with a wide range of other agencies and disciplines to ensure that an effective and holistic service response is provided.
The post holder will hold responsibility for a specific area of work or expertise within the team where prescribed by the Team Manager.
S/he will maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant child and associated legislation, policy practice and research developments both to inform practice and to contribute to the development of quality services within the team.
Under the guidance of the Team Leader and the Senior Social Worker, the post holder will provide mentoring/consultation to an integrated team of professional child care staff, ensuring that a good standard is maintained within the context of legislative requirements, Council and Departmental policies and procedures.
S/he will ensure that case records and general administration duties are maintained to a high standard that fully aligns with departmental requirements so that work can regularly be reviewed.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  1. You will hold a professional qualification and where necessary a professional registration
  2. You will have considerable relevant post qualifying, practical experience in similar service areas and/or to have achieved a relevant post qualifying award
  3. You will demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation, developments of social care policy, regulations, and codes of practice, systems, initiatives, processes and procedures
  4. You will have an ability to supervise others
  5. You will have good relationship building skills, which may involve dealing with emotive situations
  6. You will have financial experience or training to carry out associated financial assessments
  7. If relevant: you will have experience of care assessment
    You will have a good level of general IT skills and the ability to use, or be trained in the use of,  appropriate specialist in-house software packages

JOB SUMMARY
To provide a high quality and responsive Legal Service to the Council and external clients in relation to all planning law and associated matters and other areas of legal work undertaken by the District Council to the service’s agreed professional standards;

Having conduct of a caseload of planning law matters and to have general understanding of other areas of legal work undertaken by the District Council;

To be responsible for providing creative solutions on a seamless basis to support any service transformation within the council and to meet officer needs;

Qualifications

To advise in respect of Listed Buildings and conversation matters

Experience in the research and giving of advice, and undertaking transactions or case work in matters relating to planning law.

Responding efficiently to the changing needs of officers and members;
