An opportunity has arisen within the Client Support team for the above post to undertake Adult Social Care Financial Assessments and Reassessments. In addition to completing financial assessments, the role includes providing welfare benefit advice to maximise income for the individual and potential income recovery to the Council.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience of financial assessments or previous work in a financial role. A knowledge of Adult Social Care and Care Act 2014 is an advantage. We are looking for applicants who have excellent numeracy and literacy skills, can work with a high level of accuracy and can collate and analyse information from different sources.

You must have experience of delivering a customer focused service and be able to communicate with vulnerable adults, as well as building partnerships with internal and external agencies. An ability to manage and prioritise your own workload is essential as is experience in using Microsoft Office products.

The office base for this post is in Bootle, however, much of the working week will be spent working from home with some visits to clients in their homes throughout the Sefton borough. Therefore we are looking for candidates who are self-motivated, can demonstrate a flexible attitude and an ability to work from their own initiative.

The Specialist Resettlement Housing Coordinator will provide specialist casework to single homeless applicants leaving institutions, such as hospitals and prisons, and with complex support needs.
The Coordinator must have expert knowledge of welfare, housing and homelessness policy, legislation, and practice as well as specialist knowledge surrounding the complex needs of single homeless applicants. They should also have knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults.
Experience, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential experience, skills and knowledge:

  1. Significant experience of providing specialist homelessness casework to single homeless applicants with more complex needs, such as applicants leaving institutions including prisons and hospitals
  2. Significant experience of working collaboratively to improve outcomes for single homeless applicants with more complex needs, such as applicants leaving institutions
  3. Ability and experience to consistently deliver high levels of customer service to single homeless applicants with more complex needs
  4. Ability and experience of ensuring all aspects of casework is carried out in accordance with legislation, strategies policies and initiatives set out at the national, regional and local level
  5. Ability and experience of consistently achieving performance objectives in the provision of specialist homelessness casework
  6. Ability to contribute to the identification, dissemination and embedding of existing and emerging best practice within the team, and across the wider Housing Advisory Service
  7. Ability to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders, including applicants, members, partners, and so on
  8. Significant knowledge of welfare, homelessness and housing policy, strategies, legislation, and case law, and its implementation within a statutory homelessness service

A full time position (36 hours)To work in a multidisciplinary team within the Sutton Community LD Team.  We are looking for a clinical Psychologist with Learning Disability experience with clients and supervisory experience with Psychology trainees and assistants.  The job is hybrid but we would expect most assessments to be face to face (as a guideline 3 days a week in Sutton).  We are in the London Borough of Sutton with good travel connections.  It is an exciting opportunity within the Team and the wider network of Sutton Health and Care.

Specific accountabilities

•          Manage a caseload and be professionally responsible for offering evidence based Psychological practice governed by national and professional best practice guidance as evidenced by the use of outcome measures, feedback forms and service evaluations.    

•          To provide specialist Psychological assessments of clients referred to the team.    

•          Provide specialist Psychological advice, guidance, training and consultation to other professionals/carers contributing directly to clients’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.

•          To demonstrate high level expertise in adapting Psychological assessments, interventions and reports to the cognitive, communication, sensory, social and physical needs of people with Learning Disabilities and their carers.  

•          To take an active role in working with clients who present with behaviour that challenges following best practice guidance to inform the MDT, Social Services, carers, external providers and families on how best to support the client through the use of Positive Behavioural Support.  

•          To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions and or carers on Psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.  

•          To receive regular professional supervision from a senior Psychologist and attend mandatory as well as relevant professional training and development to maintain CPD requirements.  To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to the specific client group.  

•          To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording and report writing in accordance with the requirements of Information Governance, NHS Code of Confidentiality, Data Protection Act 1998 and also the terms and conditions in your contract of employment.

•          To develop and deliver training as required by the service.

Person specification

Education/ Knowledge/ Qualifications

•          BSc/Msc Psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental Psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS)

•          HCPC registered Practitioner Clinical Psychologist

•          Skills in the use of complex methods of Psychological assessment, intervention and management.

•          Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised Psychological assessments and therapies used with adult clients with learning disabilities. 

•          Knowledge of legislation and current national guidelines in relation to the client group and mental health.  

Experience

•          Experience in the assessment and treatment of learning disabled clients.

•          Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.  

•          Experience of training.
