Passenger Assistants (PA) accompany children and young adults, usually with additional needs (medical/behavioural), who require transport to and from school/college. There are currently approximately 800 students aged between 4-25 accessing Home to School transport which will be in either a Minibus or a Taxi. You will be providing cover for PAs who are unable to work and therefore cover maybe required during the hours of 07.00-10.00 and 14.00-17.00 Monday to Friday. We may also need to contact you during the day to arrange future cover which maybe last minute. Sometimes this is short term cover for half a day, sometimes it can be longer. It is a rewarding job with lots of variety. You’ll meet lots of students with differing needs and gain great experience whilst accompanying students into Schools across Plymouth and into Devon and Cornwall. You are paid for the time you work and will be given one day of ‘classroom’ training on Microsoft Teams before accompanying a PA on a route. Candidates should live in the Plymouth City Council Area. Please be aware these are variable hours as you will be placed on a relief register to cover PAs as and when required.

Experience:
-Significant relevant post qualification experience in assessing and analysing the needs of children and their families including the ability to devise intervention plans and packages of support to preventing offending behaviour, reduce risk of serious harm to others, risk to the child and promote safety and wellbeing.
-Significant knowledge of legislation, practice and experience in relation to safeguarding children
-Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies, to share knowledge and deliver successful outcomes
-Experience of engaging with hard to reach children and families
Special requirements:
-This post is registered as exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and in accordance with the Police Act.
-The successful candidate must be able to obtain satisfactory Enhanced DBS in order to be appointed to the post. In this respect a criminal record check will be undertaken prior to confirmation of appointment.

LOCALITY
Cardiff Council are looking for a Principal Social Worker to work predominantly in a supervisory role, alongside case management of a small complex caseload, within one of our Locality Teams. The successful candidate would be supported by their Team Manager and the Operational Manager. They would work within a team of social workers, social work assistants and resource assistants (additional administrative support).
The successful candidate will be required to supervise a pod of social work assistants and lesser experienced social work staff. Cardiff Council is seeking an individual able to support staff, ensuring the focus of a supportive, positive environment is nurtured within the team. You will be responsible for conducting monthly supervision, chairing strategy meetings and attending joint visits. You will be expected to provide regular oversight of the Young People’s care plans through robust quality assurance of the Social Work Assistants work and attendance at relevant meetings such as Child Looked After Reviews.
Whilst the role is predominately non-caseholding, where concerns escalate in respect of Young People allocated to one of your supervisees you will be expected to take on allocation until risks have de-escalated to enable relocation to the Social Work Assistant or NQSW.
You will be supported by your Team Manager and Operational Manager. We support Hybrid Working.

- To deliver and evaluate substantially (but not limited to) Manual Handling and First Aid training courses which meet the needs of staff, legislative requirements, and best practice.
- To develop best practice materials in respect of manual handling, first aid or other areas of health & safety.
- To ensure that concise and accurate records of training sessions are maintained.
- To liaise with the Team Manager and Manual Handling Adviser in providing relevant health and safety programmes and training events.
- To report any concerns, or further action identified during training to the Team Manager or Manual Handling Adviser.
- Keep up to date with developments in Professional Development by reading relevant journals, going to meetings and attending relevant courses
- Research new technologies and methodologies in workplace learning and present this research.
- Collate research and best practice materials and distribute to the service areas on a regular basis in a format that is most conducive to workforce development.
- Contribute to Welsh Government / Social Care Wales reports and returns as required.
Education & Training
⦁ Recognised, relevant health care or social care qualification, to minimum NVQ Level III or equivalent
⦁ Hold an Education and Training qualification Level 3 or equivalent e.g. PTLLS
⦁ Holds a Manual Handling certificate
⦁ Holds a First Aid at Work Certificate
⦁ Willingness to undertake Safer Moving and Handling of People Train the Trainer qualification

Experience / Knowledge
⦁ Experience in a social/health care setting.
⦁ An understanding of people manual handling risk assessments & review processes.
⦁ Experience of design, development, facilitation, and evaluation of learning events.
⦁ Be able to demonstrate knowledge of Health & Safety legal requirements in particular relating to Manual Handling and First Aid.
Skills and Abilities
⦁ Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, to a range of audiences.
⦁ Competent IT User.
⦁ Good understanding and knowledge of public sector policy and performance frameworks relating to services for children and adults in need of care and support.
⦁ Good knowledge and understanding of the Social Services and Well-being Act
⦁ Practical problem solving approach to moving and handling issues.

C&G fully qualified electrician ( including AM2) with preferably 5 years experience, social housing experience would be a bonus.

Job will be sent though daily via iPads so a good knowledge of electronic devices would be help full.
Good all round electrical experience of kitchen , bathroom and general electrical works.
A van and iPad is included along with a multi tester for the testing role, power tools will be provided if deemed to be needed, but hand tools must be provided by yourself.
Initially for the electrical testing program but may lead to a permanent position for the right applicants.
Skills and Experience:
Extensive, demonstrable post qualification experience in the electrical trade.
Demonstrable success in the delivery of a variable workload in a customer focused environment and working in a target driven service.
Understanding and experience of working to current Health and Safety requirements.
Demonstrable excellent communication skills.
Ability to use computerised data recording equipment.
Hours of work:
Mon-Thursday: 8:00am-4:30 pm ,
Friday: 8:00am-3:30pm on a Friday This amounts to a 37 hr week.
