We are looking for 2 YJS Sessional Wokers -
This will be to undertake work - 8-10 hours per month
ad hoc work where the hours may vary with may than the stated hours mentioned

You will supervise and support young people to fulfil aspects of their court orders. Reparation (repairing of harm) is a core element of a young person’s intervention whilst working with the Youth Justice Service and you will play a vital role in ensuring this takes place as well as supporting with other opportunities and intervention across the service. Building relationships, as well as the ability to challenge appropriately any negative behaviours, are key attributes to these roles. A working knowledge of safeguarding policy and procedures would also be beneficial. Full training will be provided to support and strengthen the attributes candidates already hold.

  1. To collect young people from their accommodation and transport to and from placements
  2. To supervise young people at placements
  3. To support young people at placements and encourage positive attitude and behaviour
  4. Supporting young people to complete other specific intervention work – for example – completing offending behaviour programmes or basic qualifications
  5. To motivate and encourage young people to complete tasks whilst at placements, in order to fulfil the reparation element of their order
  6. To be confident in working in partnership and building relationships with our community placements
  7. To be able to prevent anti-social behaviour at placements by following in-house safety procedures
  8. An understanding of how to deal appropriately with challenging behaviour
  9. To commit to a minimum of 8 hours per month- This role will require some evening and weekend working in line with the needs of the service
  10. To liaise with the Reparation Coordinator in respect of engagement and/ or concerns
  11. Use the Council’s lone worker monitoring service to ensure personal safety
  12. Attend regular supervision sessions with Reparation Coordinator
  13. To undertake any other such duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be required from time to time

The Senior PM/BS role would include (but not necessarily limited to) -

  • Management and control of the schemes and team of PM/BS's in place to undertake the planned capital works across the Corporate & Commercial estate, reporting to the Capital Projects Manager on a regular basis.
  • Responsibility for progress monitoring of the planned works in place.
  • Collating and maintaining budget records in conjunction with the contract officers team.
  • Technical Advice to the team members as required.

Technical/Experience must haves -

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in building surveying or project management discipline
  • Solid PM/BS background and experience within the industry including budgetary control
  • Previous experience of team management and programme delivery within the building surveying/construction project management field of works programmes £2M+
  • Excellent English literacy, report writing and communication skills
  • Ability and experience in use varying Microsoft software packages

The Violence Reduction Coordinator will coordinate the delivery of interventions tackling serious crime alongside the work of the local community and partner agencies - including the Metropolitan Police, local authorities, youth services, health services, VCS, and criminal justice agencies in line with Newham’s Violence Reduction Plan and MOPAC’s Violence Reduction Unit framework. This work will be underpinned by evidence and intelligence–driven approaches to help identify the underlying risk factors that can lead to violence, diagnose the problem and then assist in the development and the delivery of partnership plans and interventions to tackle them.
KNOWLEDGE:

Good understanding of factors leading to and involved in violence and vulnerability related crime and influencing factors affecting offending and victimisation.
Working knowledge of Crime and Disorder Act (1998) and other relevant legislation.
Good working knowledge of current issues in criminal justice related to VAWG agenda, including domestic abuse and other harmful practices.

Main Purpose of the Job/Key Objectives:

Job Context:
