This is a Children's based role.

What will you be doing?
You will deliver inclusive personalised pathway plans to maximise young people’s independence ensuring that relevant legislation, codes of practice, and good practice guides are implemented and service standards are met.
You will maintain contact with and deliver pathway plans in accordance with the statutory requirements of the Personal Advisor role.
You will provide support and specialist advice and guidance as well as advocacy on behalf of young people.
You will liaise with contacts from different sectors, including health, housing, education and voluntary sectors ensuring good communication in order to deliver an effective service.
You will know when to take necessary action in accordance with Safeguarding procedures in order to protect vulnerable young people.
You will maintain confidential reports and case notes, record care plans and risk assessments in accordance with professional and Council guidelines.

You will need a relevant qualification to NVQ3 level or equivalent, or considerable experience of working with young people in a professional environment, (e.g. residential social work, youth work, career advisory work, young people’s drugs work or mentoring).
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice as well processes and procedures related to leaving care.
You will have good interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to build relationships and engage successfully with young people, their families and professionals.
Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.

Working as a team player within a busy environment is a must for this role as you will share your workload with other members of the team.

You will be working 12 hours rotating shift pattern consisting of days and nights including weekends and bank holidays with a weekly average of 37 hours. Flexibility required to support needs of the rota.

Salary can be up to £27,000 a year.

  5. To be sensitive to the dynamics of the client's social and cultural situation and facilitate communication - to offer sensitive social work collaboration and an appropriate level of counselling and advocacy.
  6. To facilitate client independence and empowerment as far as possible by ensuring that all stages of a client's assessment are strength-based involving the client and carers. Ensure that clients and carers are fully informed of their rights and access all relevant information.
  7. To produce detailed assessment/care plans/reviews/reports as necessary and maintain up-to-date computerised client records of a high standard to ensure good social work practice. Additionally, to provide all required documentation to service users and their representatives on time.
  8. To work proactively and extensively in partnership with other agencies, including health, education, carers' services, careers' services, and other statutory and voluntary agencies, to facilitate joint services planning for service users and their families.

  13. To attend multidisciplinary case conferences, meetings and reviews, as appropriate, identifying the individual needs of users, recommending appropriate packages of care, and ensuring that service users and carers are supported in making a full contribution to meetings.
  14. To work with the Transition Team to manage the smooth handover/transfer of cases to the adult team, ensuring that all entries are updated on Carefirst by the responsible person accordingly
  15. To participate in the Team's Duty Rota, responding to calls requiring urgent intervention, including situations which require investigation and action under Safeguarding Procedures.
  16. To respond effectively and sympathetically to any complaints made about the provision of services following appropriate Council complaints procedure.
  17. To work with the Systems Team and support it with managing its desktop and data entries – training to be updated accordingly to facilitate this.

  • Collating and maintaining budget records in conjunction with the contract officers team.
  • Technical Advice to the team members as required.
  • All the duties of the PM/BS role (should they be required to undertake some of the works as cover for their PM/BS team)
    Dealing with and delegating any reactive or emergency works that may arise across the Corporate & Commercial estate to one of the PM/BS team supporting them technically where required.

Technical/Experience must haves -

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in building surveying or project management discipline
  • Solid PM/BS background and experience within the industry including budgetary control
  • Previous experience of team management and programme delivery within the building surveying/construction project management field of works programmes £2M+
  • Excellent English literacy, report writing and communication skills
  • Ability and experience in use varying Microsoft software packages
